    Re: salsa

The lowest and best tasting would probably have to be something you make yourself. Tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, lemon juice, salt and pepper, FRESH cilantro.

          Re: salsa

I owe Tamariah my salsa recipe. We grow tons of tomatos just so I can make salsa and can it! I can't wait for the tomatos to start turning red! Anyday now.

Anyway, I've gotta dig out my recipe and I'll post it.

I agree cilantro makes the salsa! That and some really good hot peppers we like jalepeno and habenero's!

Yeah, freshly made salsa taste alot better than the stuff in jars! And it's really easy to make. Just chop tomatoes, onions, peppers (hot if you prefer), add lemon or lime juice and cilantro (if you like it). And that's all there is to it.

Yep, I've seen green salsa at the regular store too! I've checked it out and the store bought ones aren't much different in carbs really.

I found the premade ones that are actually made in Mexico seem to be made with just natural ingredients ie tomato, peppers, onion, cilantro. Most of the American made ones have other garbage in them! But everyone is right, it tastes so much better homemade and its so simple to make!

Those green tomatoes are tomatillos, not the unripe red tomato. According to the USDA website, 1/2 cup chopped tomatillo has about 1.5 net carbs.

Here's a link with some info and a pic of them:

Wonder what else you could do with those tomatillo's? I see them in the grocery store all the time but never knew what to do with the darned things.
