  • Help-when u really need something sweet...

    I was hoping someone had something quick...when you really are craving a sweet and all you have in the house is meat and veggies..what the heck do you do??? I need a quick easy fix??? lol

    Believe it or not, eating some fat & protein will help kill cravings.

            My favorite thing for a sweet craving is to mix cream cheese, cocoa powder and a little sweetener. It makes a great chocolate treat. You can freeze it for a while and it's like a little piece of fudge. I just make little bits at a time though because it's something I could definitely go overboard with.

                  Hey Char!

                  To tell you the truth, I don't even measure anything. I usually take an 8 ounce package of cream cheese and soften it a little in the microwave. I stir in probably a couple tablespoons of cocoa until it's about the color of chocolate milk. As far as sweetener, I really don't know... I think maybe I put in 4 packets of sweetner. Just taste until you get it as sweet as you like.

                  Don't forget to count the sweeteners in your daily limits though!

                    I just found this thread and like the cocoa idea. I use a pack of sugar free jello and whisk this into cream cheese. I don't add any more sweetner just a little cream. I then either serve it chilled on its own or with some berries. It is very rich and tastes a little bit like ice cream when you use strawberry jello.

                      Do you use the jello dry? Or do you prepare it first??

                          Char, I am usually wanting a sweet NOW when the urge hits me. I have pretty much gone no sweeteners, but when I have to have something (It happens once every couple of weeks) I make sure I always have some cream and a diet rootbeer in the fridge. I pour in the root beer, add a dash of vanila and a shot of cream and stir. It looks kind of muddy, but is fast and tastes like a rootbeer float.

                            This isn't my invention, but I'm glad someone came up with it! When I need something sweet I make these:

                            Cream Cheese Muffins

                            2 8oz. pks. philadelphia cream cheese
                            1/2 cup sweetener (original recipe calls for Splenda)
                            2 eggs
                            1/2 tsp. vanilla

                            Soften cream cheese about 40 seconds in microwave. Add other ingredients. Beat with mixer till smooth. Pour into 12 muffin pans lined with the papers. Bake at 350 for 20 min. Chill and eat, these are really good cold and better cold than straight out of the oven.

                              The above recipe is lovely and I often use a packet of sugar free jello strawberry or lime flavour instead of the sweetener. If you don't add the eggs, just a spoonful of cream you can eat it straight instead of cooking it which is great if you want it NOW!!!!
