  • Anything W/ Mushrooms

With this topic you'd think i loved them, but the opposite is actually true ive tried them and i think they are horrible but it takes me a few times to like something so... anyone have any ways to make them and what kind to use so that i can see again if i like them, ive just tried them by themselves like the kind that would go on pizza. thanks

I like portabellas as "crust" for pizza. Also I sautee musrhooms and a little bit of onion and garlic and then add cream and dill or tarragon.. mmmmmm, great on top of chicken or pork chops.

Stuff them with sausage and bake them topped with parmesean cheese, great appetizer! I sometimes even top them with alfredo if I'm feeling fancy!

Dip them in egg and coat them with crushed pork rinds and fry them, serve them hot with a dip like ranch, blue cheese or mayo mixed with a little sour cream and horseradish.

For a quick meal I throw in a skillet about half a cup sliced mushrooms and half a cup sliced onions, Satuee and then add roast beef sandwhich meat. Very tasty and quick and a way to get in some of those veggies.

For an easy appetizer, broil mushrooms stuffed with a little sharp cheese until mushrooms are soft and cheese is bubbly. Points depend on amounts used.

                    Hi Stephanie! :wave

We'll make mushroom lover outta you yet.

Pick up think sliced baby portabella mushrooms, heat up extra virgin olive oil until it's very hot (mushrooms are like sponges and if the oil isn't hot they soak it all up) toss em' in with 2-3 crushed garlic gloves, salt & pepper.

Reduce the heat to a sautee and add butter, when the butter melts whisk in a little heavy cream..pour over steaks, chicken, turkey, anything really. It's yummy!

You can also add about a 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and viola! Alfredo sauce.

                    Peter

How do you stop the mushrooms losing all their water? EVerytime I cook them (I don't add any salt), I end up with a watery mess and it makes the mushrooms less appetising :sadblinky

What method are you using to cook them? If you are sauteeing them just keep going until the liquid cooks off.

Mushrooms release their water. All you need to do is let it cook off.
