I have never eaten, nor seen spaghetti squash cooked before. I bought one at the grocery store the other day and I'm wondering if you can actually use this in place of spaghetti? Sorry if that is a stupid question!

I think the guy on "Low carb and lovin' it" (show on tv) did use it in place of spaghetti once.

I don't know if it's too late to answer you - but spaghetti squash is MY new pasta !!! I had never had it before and now i LOVE it !!!!!!! :joy
I cut mine lengthwise and remove the seeds. then i put the cut side down in a microwaveable dish in about 1/4 cup water. cover it with clear plastic wrap and microwave for 7-10 minutes. let it cool for a min. and then scrape the strands out with a fork. you'll be amazed at how much you get !!! any unused portions i freeze for future use. ENJOY

Spaghetti squash
Yes, I use this to replace pasta, I cook it conventional oven or microwave..add some cream cheese, low carb sauce yum...I like it a little hotter so I add Delallo Imported Pasta Sauce Hot Pepper Garlic Sauce..little pricy for 13 oz but it's really good. I only add a couple of T. thats all you need. I am going to make some now! :icondance<a href="http://www.TickerFactory.com/">

I grow the stuff every year and loved it long before I become an Atkinteer.
You can use it as substitute for spaghetti. It has a sweeter taste than pasta.
But here are some additional ways I make it.
Make a pesto sauce and toss.
Add butter, garlic and parmsean cheese, bake in oven till golden brown.
Thats really about it, I do love its flavor though.

I mix the cooked, leftover squash with some egg and a tiny bit of onion. Form into patties and pan fry until golden brown. Yummy....~Megs~

The easiest way to me is. Cut the squash in 1/2 the long way, scoop out the seeds. Place 1/2 in a microwaveable bowl cut side down with a little bit of water. Cook on high for 7 minutes, take it out and scrape the inside of it with a fork, it will come out looking like yellow "spaghetti" noodles--then top it however you want and enjoy!
I like mine with alfredo sauce and shrimp or chicken. I also like it with lots of butter, garlic and parmesean cheese!
