    Re: McDonald's burgers

I went to my local McDonald's and asked for the grilled chicken club with no bun and got asked the Atkins question. Then the chubby little girl ( I really wanted to ask which diet was working for her, but that would have been mean ) started telling me about how unhealthy it was. I asked to see the manager and with them both standing there in front of some other customers, I politely asked to see the girl's medical license. I told her and the manager that I would take the word of my doctor and the American Diabetes Association, as well of dozens of scientific studies, over some girl working at McDonald's that thinks her ignorant views of nutrition are better than everyone else's view. I was very nice, but firm, about it and the manager profusely apologized, since she has seen me going there for years (part of my problem to begin with lol). I feel kinda bad now because I haven't seen her there since then, so I think she might have gotten fired.

But I also LOVE going for breakfast and ordering 3 sausage patties and two folded eggs like what comes on the sausage and egg biscuits. I stack them sausage-egg-sausage-egg-sausage and have my own "biscuit." Man, I am too late for breakfast today!!

You do know what's in the sausage and eggs there, don't you?

      Sausage Patty:

propyl gallate and citric acid (preservatives).

      Folded Egg:
Pasteurized whole eggs, food starch-modified, soybean oil, natural flavors (botanical source), sodium acid pyrophosphate, carrageenan, flavor enhancer [salt,
maltodextrin, natural flavor (plant source), spices, herb, turmeric (color)], monosodium phosphate, citric acid, soy lecithin (release agent). Prepared with Liquid
Margarine: Liquid soybean oil, water, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, salt, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, soy lecithin, mono-and diglycerides, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate (preservatives), artificial flavor, citric acid, vitamin A palmitate, beta carotene (color).

This came up a while back. So I asked the manager of the McDs next door to my office. ALL of the carbs involved in the Angus Burgers come from OUTSIDE the burger.

If you have the time and want the Angus Burger just ask for it without the seasoning (if you want no salt and/or no pepper you will have to wait a few minutes while they cook fresh burgers without it). The Angus Burger seasoning is one of the last items on the prep line, in a shaker. Just before putting on the top bun they give it 2 or 3 shakes. Without the shakes the burger is just a 1/3 pound of 100% Angus beef with salt & pepper.

          Off the topic, a tad!

My wife workes in a grocery store, but its 10 minutes away from the house. We have a competitor a block away. One day she was shopping at the store down the block and one of the checkers asked some brilliant question, like "Does Krogers let you shop here?" The owner was within hearing distance. He came over and jumped her right there in front of everyone. He said, we're here to sell groceries and her money is just as good as anyone elses and that if he ever heard her ask someone that again she'd been looking for work elsewhere!

I just love the free-market system!
