I saw this recipe for sugared pecans with brown sugar, vanilla and egg whites.

I was thinking of substiting the BS with Spendla, think it will still be good?

        Re: sugared nuts

I've attempted to use Brown sugar Twin and wasn't pleased with the results. I thought it tasted kinda....ack. I have (infrequently) used the brown sugar splenda blend and find that it does a lot better in cooking. If the recipe requires the nuts to carmelize (as sugar would carmelize), then the BS twin is not going to work. The BS splenda might not work all the way, but it would do better, since it is half sugar.

Never tried the BS Splenda either. Boy, I need to check out that isle more often. I use Splenda so little, that I still have the original box of packets in pantry since I started a year and a half ago. I just really stayed clear of it.

            Thanks for the tips though!

Do yourself a favor and just stay away from them. There is nothing like the original, THEY ARE SOOO GOOD.

                Re: sugared nuts

Splenda, true Splenda ( that is why they now add real not for Atkins folk sugar for baking in the Splenda for baking) will not crystalize like sugar so you will not get the nuts you know.

You can mix your nuts with cinnamon and splenda and get a flavored nut or you can use spices like chili powder or hot pepper or even garlic on your nuts as a flavored snack.

Brown Sugar Splenda is a blend of Splenda and regular Brown Sugar.

Thanks for the tips, which I read this morning.

I tried the nuts last night and they were okay, nothing like I remembered. I think the garlic idea would be great! Thanks for the ideas!

                      Re: sugared nuts

The egg white trick won't give you sugared nuts (like the kind with the caramel covering). But it will allow you to flavor nuts.

I was thinking of trying it with butter, splenda and cinnamon. Yes, it wouldn't have that hard sugar coating, but I'm curious how it would turn out.

we should have a recipe like that someone posted they did on the nut rung and loved it as a snack, but remember your body is getting sweet tast and getting confused as genetically sweet means sugar ( why did y'all think tastebuds taste sugar?) and the human boidy sends I got sugar signals out and for some folk that is enough to trigger a blood sugar drop form the released insulin and poof we get a HELP I have horrible cravings and I haven't cheated at all topics.
