  • Kinda-Like a Wendy's Frosty....

In May of 2001 I began low carbing. I dropped 60 pounds and kept it off with very little effort up until a year or so ago.

I'm back on Atkins and looking so forward to sticking with it this time. I'm exactly where I was when I started the FIRST time around.

Anyways - a wonderful wonderful wonderful treat that got me through many many times when I did it in 2001 is this:

    A cup full of ice
Just enough heavy cream to make it "mushy" when blended.
A sprinkle (about a 1/5 of a package of sugar free jello, or jello pudding)

When this is blended, it's much like a Wendy's Frosty...if anything, it's better. It's super creamy and dee-lish. When you use a fruit flavored jello mix, it tastes like a Mr Misty Freeze, from Dairy Queen (the kind with ice cream added)

    Here's to a thin 2007 - LOW CARB!

Lol! Which one did you try, the jello added or the pudding? I want to try one but don't know which to try first.

yummm. I tried the pudding one. I did add a little water also, to make it smoother as the cream kind of freezes and gets a little waxy (anyway the kind here in Denmark). But boy - oh - boy !!!!

              Re: Kinda-Like a Wendy's Frosty....

I do use a blender, I did use a bit of water too (I forgot about that....it's been a few years since Atkins-ing!!!), and I use Jello brand mix.

I thought for sure I'd have a bunch of replies "We already know about that one" since it'd been so long since I'd done it.

I low-carbed before you could get ANYTHING low-carb. They occasionally would have those Atkin's bars at some stores.... but you had to get lucky, and not be picky with what they had.

So - because of this, I had to get creative...and I *LOVED* my "ice cream".

Natural Ovens used to make a very grainy granola - sometimes I'd toss that into the "ice cream" when it was done to give it some crunch....or sunflower seed meats, too!

Im SOOOO glad you guys tried it and liked it!

For one serving I use 2 icecubes, 2 tablespoons of cream, 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of splenda and I mix it well for about a minute in a blender. it tastes like chocolate ice cream. I mean the real thing too, soft serve(frosty)

Thats funny..lol..I was just thinking of trying that last night but I was worried wether the cocoa had caffeine in it. Whats the carb count on it?

The natural caffine affect of cocoa won't hurt you at all unless you're having cups of it.
Generally 1 tablespoon of cocoa has 2g of carbs but also has 2g of fiber = 0g net carbs, so don't count it towards your daily carbs. Cocoa is a better choice because it's full of antioxodiants and a natural fat burner.

Is this ok on induction? The ice, cream and sugar free (carb free) jello mix.
