  • Induction Crisps! I think.....

My friend told me that they are selling vegetable crisps in Audi Stores in the UK and after trying parsnip chips the other day I was inspired! I got a pack and if you split the 100g bag into smaller 13g bags there around 4g Carbs per bag. There are two flavors parsnips in black pepper and mixed veg in salt (only one I like) unfortunatly it is a mix of sweet potatoes, beetroot, parsnip and carrots none of which are on the acceptable list Am I wrong can I have these?? on induction.

If not then I'll be turnip crisping tommorow! useing my potatoe peeler to make my own!

Turnip Chips/Fries - I found a recipe that says to chip them then soak the in a cup of cream and water to cover in a bowl for around 30+ min apparently this takes away any weird taste and make them more like chips, worked for me and my kids! although slow fry them or they taste like raw potatoes!

Sweet potaoe and carrots come much later so you should not be eating them on induction. Anything you can make on your own is much better for your health as well as you way of eating (woe)

Doh! I knew it was too good to be true. I assume the parsnip ones are okay, they need more salt for me as the black pepper is really overwhelming.

I'l going to try parnip chips today I'm going to make them with a potatoe peeler then soak in some cream and water, then deep fry and add salt while draining.

Fingers crossed they will be great and induction friendly I'll post in a few hours if they came out okay

Hey, where's this recipe for crisps? I'd like to try it. Turnips are allowed on induction right?

Finally induction crisps, roasties and fries

So my turnip crisp turned out GREAT!

              I used:
              1 Turnip (peeled)
1/2 cup of double cream (optional)
              Water to cover (optional)
              Oil to deep fry
              Salt (to taste)

I used my food processors slice funcion and slice a whole peeled turnip. I then soaked them in cream and water (although I'm not sure if its needed, but I read its takes away any bitter flavour) I then deep fried them and as soon as they browned, took them out and covered lightly with salt and seperated into small bags for later. YUMMY!

If you have some parmesan and onion powder, maybe make cheese and onion?

So after this sucess followed same recipe but chipped them and cubed them and boiled for 20 mins. With the chips I deep fried them and with the cubes I cooked in meat dripping in the oven.

I am a really awkward eater who before atkins wouldnt even look at a turnip....now it looks like a turnip has saved me

Turnips are best faux potatoe i have found, a little more chewy but still prettay darn good.

Will be trying mash turnips next!!

p.s. I used paul mckennas tapping technique to quit smoking. I couldnt even last 15 mins without a cig but went competly cold turkey with patches and never looked back...in fact was easy! I watched his 'I will make you thin' programme and he shows you the technique which can stop cravings, and can be used for stopping smoking...i used it and it worked even if i did look a bit silly. For a description of the technique, let me know

              Ros xx

p.s. sorry for such a LONG post!

                    Re: Induction Crisps! I think.....

                    Hello,

The turnip crisps sound nice - mash turnip is good for a side or on top of a oveny pie type dish. I mash turnips and cauliflower together once cooked and throw in cream and butter. Yum

I also have to say I love the name Fatfighters people have probably already asked this but is it Little Britain inspired?

I have some turnips in my fridge right now that I was eating raw but decided to look on Linda's sight to see what else I could do. She had one turnip recipe and it was not marked * to show it is suitable for induction. I wonder why... maybe the ommision of the * was an error.

                      Here is the recipe:

                      BAKED TURNIPS
                      1 pound small turnips
Butter, salt and pepper, to taste

Wash turnips and trim off stems and roots. Wrap securely in foil and bake at 400ยบ for 1 hour 20 minutes or until tender. Split open and season with butter, salt, pepper and any other toppings of your choice. Makes 4 servings

Most definatly lol I go to a diet club every tuesday with my cousins, aunties and nan and we call that fatfighters too! (just a free club everyones on different diets)

I also got the keyring head of margerie which has some very motivational sayings like:

"I may be fat but YOU are something else!" or "fruit for lunch? what was it chocolate orange" or "dust is very low in calories so you can eat as much dust as you like"

                        Ros x

Also got a celeriac from ASDA today, will try some fries, crisps and faux potatoes with tomorow and let you know how i get on

                          Re: Induction Crisps! I think.....

I have a friend who always shouts 'Man I love the cake' and goes on about cake four about ten mins which I think is from Margerie

I LOVE the idea of a free diet club with lots of different diets - great idea. You get the motivation and presumably a weigh in without being fleeced or pressured to by all their crap (which I always hear WW is like).

                          Hope the celeriac is nice.

the club is run by the local heath authority and theres probably one in a health centre near you. They have a free weigh in, and guests every week from how to make healthy soups, alternative teas, and even cheerleading (which I came in and taught lol....we all had a really good workout in just half an hour!)

Me and my cousin always joke about little britain because SHE IS Vicky pollard....yeah but no but....ROFL We always do it after a few beers.......with added am I bovereds hehe
