    Re: Withdrawing of Effexor

Well, who knows, Steph? Maybe Effexor will work out for you. I certainly never lost my appetite on it and my first symptoms were insomnia and headaches. Everyone is different, though.

I have read that some people lost weight when taking Wellbutrin because it suppresses their appetite. I have been taking it for 2 years and it never had that effecct on me, so that it is another example of YMMV.

    Best wishes.

      Re: Withdrawing of Effexor

This is a really interesting thread, I have learned so much, thank you, Betty et al.

I am afraid I did not have a great experience with Effexor myself. A car hit my bike 3 years ago, the motor of the bike was still running and the motor was in a pool of gasoline and oil as I laid beside it, bloody and hurt. I was unable to turn it off and I was expecting it to explode right beside me. I became quite unhappy after the accident for some time. My doctor prescribed a very light dosage of Effexor for what he called PTSD.

I teach young students and the few days I took Effexor I almost fell asleep right in front of them as I tried to teach math. I mean I almost fell off the chair I was sitting on. I also felt numb, sort of like a zombie. I went home and threw the pills out. That was it for me. I tried EMDR - eye movement deseisitization therapy, three sessions and no pills and I was ok. So much for Effexor.

My daughter who was 18 at the time was coming off opiates and very depressed. She was also prescribed Effexor (I think this is the drug of the month among doctors right now). She was on it for a few months and she really liked it and then weaned herself slowly off and it took her 6 months to come off it. She liked Effexor but it was too expensive to use for nothing so neither of us is on it now.

I had no idea that this could be such a horrible drug to withdraw from, no one mentioned it to either of us, although thhe doctors did give a schedule for withdawl.

      EDIT
