did they discuss his blood pressure meds and the fact he has cut the dose?

so that means his average blood glucose level for every day every minute was about 300. diabetics are supposed to get it under 7 right now but I'm sure they will want them to keep getting it lower and lower like the blood sugars and LDL levels. normal folk test 4-6. Many Atkins diabetic folk test 5 or under

Thanks for that info 2big. He said he didn't tell her about chopping the BP medicine in half. She was please with his BP though. And he took him BP machine and tested it to see if it was accurate as compared to the Dr's and it was right on the money. So that's a good thing!

He's been keeping his blood sugar between about 160 and 113 for the last few days! Yay, he's really doing good I think. He said the Dr wanted him to get it between 120-150!

He has added walking after meals to his excercise routine (along with the weight training) and says that the sugar seems to stay lower when he does that!

This may sound rather odd, but I am sometimes more pleased then Mr. B when his readings are good!
The walking is a great way to lower the readings also.

woo hoo I know you are relieved things are getting bettrer.

it really is important for her to know he has chopped the dose just in case something happens to him and she has to prescribe some other med the amount she thinks he is already taking will be a factor in her choices.

Thanks girls. Things are going really well. John's numbers are becoming more consistent. In the mornings its usually around 130 ish and before dinner 100 + a little like 107, 114 etc. He's even gotten below 100 in the high 90's a few times! We are both very proud of him.

A rep for Blue Cross called last night and was going over all of his data and she was very pleased. He had his eye exam and all is well there. He was having issues with blurred vision close up and his prescription glasses for distance were making it hard for him to see instead of helping. They told him that it would go away and it has! So he's back to being able to read and his prescription glasses are working well for him again. He was pretty upset about it so I'm really glad that problem cleared itself up!

Best of all, he's feeling good! And his moods are so much more pleasant! Amazing what feeling bad can do to your personality!

I'm so happy for both of you.

high blood sugar will make the lense swell which distorts the focal length for the eye and messes up vision but that is one temporary conditon and not the retnal issues diabetics face also from high sugar damage to the tiny capillaries in it.

Thanks girls! All is still going well. We were flipping back thru his BS diary and you can really see the steady progress he's made! Amazing really when I think about it's only been a month so far!
