  • OK I am finally ready to do a challenge, anyone want to join

I have not been diligent about drinking water, keeping carbs close to low, I have been stressed+++ and tend to carb creep and have been eating up to about 70 a day on some days.

I don’t cheat in that I eat legal foods but find I use more nuts, low carb breads etc.

I must get back on track and would like to lose few lbs by Christmas but generally want to feel better.

MY BG have been good mostly but I can tell I am sluggish.

Anyone else need to have support to get back into program a bit more and would it help you to post here daily how you are doing.

Who wants to join me ??.

Well you decide what are your weak points right now and ill try support you to keep on track and you support me. Mine is
      1. Drink water every day at least eight glasses.
      2. Lower carb level to about 20 to 30 gr a day
      3. Stay away from low carb bread and nuts.

What do you think you'd like to work on???

I don’t have any hard and fast rules how we do this....do you??? Just honesty and support  Who else is gonna challenge yourself .........to take better care of you???

Geez I have exactly the same bad habits, now how weird is that?

Keeping your eye on the ball waterwise is SO DAMN important, its easy to let that slip by you especially if you get busy during the day. & water works the more you drink the more you lose.

The Singapore Straits Times recently did a 6 week challenge w/8 individuals all on different diets (1 Atkins, 1 high carb low fat, etc) the guy who kicked everybody's *** I lost far & away the most weight (13Kg) attributed his sucess to drinking 6 Liters of water a day. I meant to put the link up on the board but never got around to it & now lost the darn aticle

Also have problem w/nuts cuz I use them before big workouts & then when they're in the house I cant stay away from them at times. My hint for nuts though is we buy them raw in the market & roast them in the oven ourselves, besides saving a ton of money pricewise you get rid of the salt & oils that are usually on the packaged nuts, plus nothing beats that just out of the oven fresh roasted flavour

I do low carb muffins, & same problem, I need to learn ration the damn things. Wish I could cook just one or two at a time instead of a batch

Gee lets organize this a little better, the thanksgiving to Xmas 'stay on track' challenge
I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once

for thos flax muffins I dod do them one at a time if I use the sweetened PP cause I know I will eat the whole pan. get a pyrex microwave dish that holds 2 cups. cut your recipe down ro 1/2 if it makes 12 omit the egg grease the inside of the bowl any way you like butter, EVOO,veggie oli cooking spray and then mix your recipe in that bowl and nuke. if I do chololate flavored I cook it one minute on high and have chocolate sauce with the muffin cake like edges yum yum. If I want the whole thing muffin I do it for 2 min. don't over nuke or it gets very dry. you can slice it for bread too.

edited to add oops should be cut the recipe down to 1/12th not 1/2

Hey bud, good to see ya, will you help me organize a challenge, like you did on exercise forum one as I don’t know if I am supposed to do it more formally, have never done it before.

2big what the heck is PP, I don’t know what you are meaning. When I make a dozen flaxseed muffins, I freeze them, then take one out for coffee time, nuke it and add piece of cheddar and then do not have access to them. Plus in summer when hot found they went moldy really fast.

Hmm fresh roasted nuts but to be found in rural Alberta in mtn country….NOT!!!

So 2big…….direct me, computer dumbie I am to this chocolate recipe……… you brat, keeping this piece of info hidden from me ey????

LOl just teasing, I have not looked on recipes section for ages as always so busy and doing same ole same ole.

So folks, ta..........da.......have done my close back to induction and water for two days and dropped 3 lbs............................................... .......ohhhhh this girl is all excited again...

Stay with me on this you guys and let’s get more than binsk out here.

So Shawnee does that mean you are joining the challenge to stay off the nuts and drink da water????

So do we make an icon….Thanksgiving to Christmas Diabetic challenge???I don’t know how, Should I ask Elleth, she is making some cool diabetic ones for us as is another member, once I get them I will post them here for all to see!!!

Come on Shawnee, join our challenge..will ya.. will ya.. huh huh.

Canuck and I had our Thanksgiving in early Oct. so what if we call it the ramp up to Christmas Challenge.

I have a big plastic pitcher filled with spring water that I keep by me and glasses all around the house. When the pitcher is empty I fill it right away.

Last night was DH's birthday dinner, and we had jumbo shrimp in garlic butter. DH had his over angel hair pasta, I had mine with a side salad (very low carb). My BG was 6.1 this morning which makes me happy :joy

Tonight DH wants the leftover angel hair pasta with sauteed chicken tenders and veg. I'll have the chicken and veg with a salad.

Big milestone for me yesterday, I hit the 1000 mile mark on my bike. I started biking in late Jan. I know it doesn't seem like much, but at the beginning I could barely do 2 miles without panting. Now I go longer distances, and with more resistance. I can't believe I was going to sell that bike in a yard sale 2 years ago.

Congrats on the 3 lb. loss Canuck. Keep this up, and Santa will have to bring you new clothes.

great job getting going Binsk100 miles :joy :icondance :joy :icondance

woo hoo Canuck 3 pounds. PP is protein powder and when I use the low carb chocolate one and make a muffin in the microwave I cut down my recipe so it is 1/4 cup flax (yep I love flax) 1 scoop chocolate whey PP low carb, (you will want some sweetner I don't) 1T EVOO. mix all that up add 1/3 cup water stir it up and nuke one minute the edges get set and the middle is still runny so I have chocolate souce for my muffin. I use a sppone and eat it as dessert out of the cooking bowl. if I feel really likw dessert then I use cream instead of water and the runny middle is sort of pudding like. You need to cook it long enough for the thing to look cooked across the most of the top.
when I want bread I use plain PP and nuke 2 min till all set. Some times I add 1 egg if I want bread

                      Hi Canuck.

I don't live far from TO, but my biking is all done at home (stationary bike). It would be great to go on a biking tour out west though. I would have to be in much better shape.

Today for dinner we are having french cut pork roast coated with grainy mustard, garlic and rosemary. Not sure on the veg. yet, but today should come in under 20. I made curried devilled eggs with a shrimp on top last night. I will use them for snacking this weekend..YUMMM. For me the best way to combat carb creep is to plan, plan, plan. If I wait until I'm hungry to decide what to make, I will usually go for convenience and what I have a craving for. When I plan, somehow I start craving the thing I'm going to be cooking fairly early on in the day, it seems to work for me. What little tricks to you use to stay on track?

Good luck today. Don't forget your water.

Less than 30 days until Christmas.

                      Forgot..BG 6.3 this morning.

canuck I use water because with the flax and the olive oil it has plenty of fat if you do a fitday on the recipe you will see it is darn close to the 65/30/5 Atkins ratios :yes I try to make all my recipes that way.

Well, I'm a bit late on this post, but would love to join!

                              I need to:
                              1) drink more water...having a hard time for some reason this last week. (ummm....might have something to do with those 3 cases of diet rites in my trunk...)
2)continue my exercise challenge (thats been tough since Thanksgiving to get back into the routine
                              3) stay on induction
