  • Update!

    Hello everyone, :wave
Thought you would like an update on my progress.
I am trying to get my blood sugar levels down or the Doc will put me on injections so I was desperate, a friend told me about Atkins so I thought I would give it a go (nothing to lose I said) my doc has given me 3 months to try it out and I have been doing it for 6 weeks. I have not been following Atkins to the letter but cut out bread and potatoes completly from my diet. I was amazed and a little shocked to find week after week my sugar levels kept dropping. Now onto my 7th week and my sugar levels are normal again (between 6.0 - 7.5). I am truly amazed :joy and delighted, I have to go back to the docs on the 18th of Feb so I will have a great deal of pleasure in showing him my results :joy.
I have not had a lot of weight loss (3-4lb) but as I said I was not following the diet to the letter, I am trying to spread the word amongst my family to try this regime but I am afraid they have doctors who are very against Atkins and are telling them it will raise their cholesteral too much, which we all know is nonsense. Still I will keep going as I feel fantastic and am really proud of myself.
Keep up the good work in this forum as I have used it a lot in the last 7 weeks especialy the recipe's.

That is so cool and what a great testament to low carb dieting. If folks could cut out while flour and white sugar, starch etc, they would be ahead of the game for sure.

congrats on getting your blood sugars under control with low carbing. Dr Atkins has a new book out about Diabetics and our moderator Canuck is a success story in there.

There is also another book that several of the diabetics here use by Dr Bernstien if you check the links up above you will see some discussion of those books.

I second the use of Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution book! If you have diabetes, you really need to study this book!
