  • Labor Day Challenge!

I'm currently doing one of the 6 week challenges and sadly I find that I'm doing pretty much the bare-minimum I can to get by. For whatever reason I'm much more motivated by an approaching holiday than a chunk of time. So with that in mind may I present the....

    Labor Day Challenge!

Pretty simple, just cram in as much exercise as you can between now and labor day. For everybody's first post how about you put WHY you're doing it. (I'm going to the beach for Labor day, family reunion, etc.)

Also for this challenge every time you put in an update I think it'd be really cool to keep a running tally of how much you did. So your first post might be:
    30 minute bike - 7 miles
But your 10th post might be:
    30 minute bike - 7 miles
    Total: 5 hours 70 miles

If you just want to keep a running total of your time that would be fine too. I think this would be really neat at the end to see just how much exercise you did between now and Labor day. When it's all done we could announce the top 3 winners at the end too - the 3 who racked up the most total time ....assuming 3 people even join this!

    Re: Labor Day Challenge!

    Ok, I'll start. The WHY:
I'm going out to Lake Havasu for Labor day weekend. The girls wear bikinis or pastees! The guys wear shorts, no shirts. That's it! All weekend. There's no hiding your belly. Everybody out there is in disgustingly good shape. I want to look good for that weekend. Ahhhhhhhhhhh vanity, such a noble cause.

    Today:
    2 hour bike - 30 miles
    20 minute body surf

    Total:
    2 hours 20 minutes

Right on! Now if we can just keep anyone else from joining we're automatically the first and second place finishers! Ha-ha. I took my starting weight/bodyfat on Sunday. It's 164 and 17%. Yikes! I'd like to see that 17% back down to 12%. That's do-able. Difficult, but do-able.

        Today:
2 hr and 15 minute bike ride - 34 miles
45 minute lifting weights (not counting towards total cause it's not cardio)

        Total:
        4 hr 35 minutes

                      Re: Labor Day Challenge!

One of the boards I belong to does a 1000 minutes per month challenge and it's a fantastic way to get/stay motivated.

I'm with you, Matt. I'm starting late, but I'm starting. That said, here's my why:

Why? - I've got several new programs that deserve a solid shot and I don't feel as good about my physical condition as I did 6 months ago. That and I've got this lovely new swim suit I'd like to fill out a bit less

I'll add my cumlative minutes to my siggy to help me stay committed and focused!

                      Thanks!

Right on! Good job everybody. I took a rest day today. My body is like, "WHAT are you doing to me!" So I'll give him one day off. Well..... I did 45 minutes lifting weights, but I'm not counting that 'cause it's not car-deeee-Yo.
