  • I DON'T EXERCISE procrastinator's challenge

    OK... I know you're out there. I know there are ADBB'ers who aren't ready to run a triathalon or do push-ups on the pilattes ball. I know there must be others who know they SHOULD be exercising but just the thought of it makes you want to run and hide. The thought of walking 2 miles is on your list of things to do right behind "strap on a jet pack and fly to the moon". I know you're out there.

    So this exercise challenge is for those of us who aren't exercising at all and should be. We are going to start slow and be proud of what we accomplish, then add a bit more each week.

    Anyone interested? The first week will be 5 minutes a day of ANY exercise. You can walk, you can climb stairs, you can lift soup cans over your head, you can do crunches, you can do stretches, you can use exercise equipment -- but you must do SOMETHING for 5 minutes EVERY day. You will report here once a week on Sunday, and on Sunday night or early Monday morning come back and find out the challenge's increase in daily minutes.

    We will take it slow and we will build up our stamina with the goal of joining one of the more serious challenges in the future.

    This challenge will be especially good for anyone who has not exercised in a long time and who has a lot of weight to lose so isn't yet comfortable doing exercise.

    Join me! We can do this! One tiny step at a time!

      great idea, joan!
      one thing that might help you and anyone else joining you here is to check out the exercise of the day that jess puts up in the exercise forum. there is a new one each weekday and if you don't do anything else, you could try the exercise that she posts.

          excellent idea Joan! I hope you get more company here then I have in the December Exercise Video Challenge - so far its me and a few farm animals who pop in to make fun of me

                somedays i just don't feel like doing anything. my 5 minutes a day will be the exercise of the day posted by jess.

                      Yeah, yeah! Ok then, I started today as well. Let's see, I walked the dog the long way around (only because I had to go to the mailbox!). I was at my Moms and went up and down her stairs probably 8 times and there's maybe 15 stairs I guess. I'll count them tomorrow. Yea me!

                        a standard flight of stairs has 15 steps.

                        1. when does this start? silly and i have already started so i guess the answer for us is "now".
                        2. do you want us logging just once a week (on sunday) and telling the whole weeks activities?
                        3. how hard do you smack if we don't do 5 minutes each day?

                          JoanOh doesn't feel well today! Hmmm, I wonder if she got 5 minutes in? From what I've read about her upset stomach, I'm guessing some ab work over the "porcelain throne"! So, it's you and me baby

                            i saw she was sick. that was some kind of timing wasn't it? get us all ready to roll and then get sick.
                            i, also, was wondering if she did anything today. i'll forgive her if she didn't.

                            i got mine in. nothing else but i did 5 minutes of the exercise of the day.

                              Ok, Ok, I am in....if I can't manage 5 minutes a day and work up a little each week, then I am a pretty sad sight.

                              I start tonight, but hey, I get 5 minutes walking in several times a day already.... No, I will make it 5 minutes of exercise....I will check out the exercise of the day...
                              I WANT A MEDAL FOR THIS WHEN WE ARE DONE!!!!!!! LOL

                              Also, I too want to know how long is this challenge.
