  • January Abs challenge sign up and report thread

    Hi All

    Richt has asked me to do this challenge from now on - I hope thats ok with everyone???

    So a New Year means a new you!! So how many crunches / situps are you going to commit to for January?

    I'm committing to 100 a day!!!

    So who else is joining???

    A new year and a new person to organise it. Thanks for accepting the role Jane.

    This month I too am going to go for 100 a day. 3100 for the month.

    I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

        I'm more than happy to sign up!! 100 a day sounds good to me!!

        Little question tho....for any of the fitness buffs out there...

        Sit - ups, or half sit ups are part of my exercise programme at the gym. I do 2 sets of 15. I asked my personal trainer if I should increase this amount and he said that it wouldnt do anything at all. Is that because I need to lose the fat around my tummy first before I think about toning it? I lie on my back with my hands behind my head, I lift my top half up and lift my hips up slightly at the same time. I only raise myself half way, I've been told not to do full sit ups.

        Any ideas?

        Did Atkins on and off from Feb 2005 until April 2008. Fluctuated between 15 st 1/211lbs and 11 st 1/155lbs.
        On different weightloss programme from 28th May 2008 start weight 14 st 11/207lbs.
        Current weight 10st 3lbs/143lbs.
        Ultimate Goal Weight 9 st/126lbs.

          Hmmm....good question...can't wait to hear the answer!

          I'll sign up again for January. 100 crunchers a day, 3100 for the month.

              Ok, I can not belive I'm going to do this, but I'm going to start out slow - I'm pledging
              30 per day for a total of 930. I didn't know I even had ab muscles left before I started Atkins and I had to do some sort of exercise - I chose crunches and I can do some, but not many!! I hope that is O.K.

              Thanks for doing this - I'm gonna need everyones support!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Happy New Me in 2007, thanks to Atkins and ADBB!

                I will sign up. 50 a day/1550 for month


                My stomach hasn't had an exercise since 1999. It will be in for a shock!

                    I would like to join this challenge.. I will go for 30 crunches a day seeing as I'm just starting out.

                              Angel, I agree with your trainer, half sit ups (or crunches) are much more benficiall than full sit ups, as your abs will not get that much more of a work out for the extra work (does that make sense)?

                              Also, you should be placing your hands on your temples instead of behind your neck as if you are holding your neck there is a danger that yopu could do some damage to your neck when pushing yourself up. Gently placing your fingers on your temple when crunching is better for you.
