      Not this month if that's ok. Some of those may be an issue on my left knee/leg. It's getting stronger but I have one knot against the knee that I need the therapist to address tomorrow. It keeps flaring up and is really stubborn about releasing. Some of those I can do now to get other muscles going. But for a commitment on all, I better wait a bit. Also, I'll be pushing the leg with the mileage challenge trying to get my miles in once I get my bike back and the weather cooperates.

      Later on, I'm going to ask you about a couple exercises. I didn't see them specifically on the print-out site and not sure what they entail. I'll do that today.

          Oops! Yep, that's a mark for myself to find certain posts later on. This site is now my resource center because you can't put notes in bookmarks. Just posted another in my journal for the mock danish. I'm sure I saw that recipe here or on Linda's site but do you think I can find it now?? So now I've got the link to Ken's video for it.

                tricep extensions: Dumbell Tricep Extension with Ball?
                i simply sit on the ball. while holding the dumbbell behind my head i lift the dumbbell over my head then lower it back down.
                lying leg press: ??
                this is one that christy started out doing. lay on your side. the top let will be resting on the ball while the bottom leg is bent at the knee. you are going to press down with the leg on the ball and hold for a few seconds. you should be feeling the inner leg muscles.
                stretching: ??
                most of the stretching exercises i do came from the dvd that came with my ball. one stretch is to sit cross legged and roll the ball forward, holding and as you breath out try to roll the ball further out. easy motion and holding for 10 or 15 seconds. roll the ball to your side, resting one arm on it and stretch over your head with the other arm, stretching those side muscles. roll the ball to your back and hold on to it with both hands behind you. sitting up straight and always with any of these, using your core muscles to help you balance.
                slow swim: ??
                i actually think slow swim was on the sparkpeople site. but you lie on the ball. you should be resting on it with the ball about mid section. raise one arm and the opposite leg in a slow steady move. lower and raise the other arm and opposite leg. this is harder than it sounds. it's takes balance and again, using those core muscles to help you balance. i've been doing them for a little while and i'm just getting to the point of being able to balance good.

                seated leg extension: Single Leg Hamstring Flexion with Ball ???
                sit on the ball, feet and legs apart about shoulder width. lift one leg and extend it out, hold and bring back to a 90 degree angle. repeat. you will actually be balancing mostly with your core muscles. switch legs and repeat.

                bridge ball squats: Bridges on Ball ?
                this is one that biogeek was doing for therapy. we didn't know what to call it so we came up with a name.
                lie on the ball, back on the ball. feet at a 90 degree angle. while leaving you feet in the same spot, roll so the ball goes from you upper back towards the neck. your kness with be in the squat position. roll back so the ball is again in the mid to upper back. while doing this, don't slump and use the core muscles to keep your body from sagging towards the floor.

                1 arm rows - ?
                just use the ball.

                  Hey jimmie! I have found it difficult to get everything done that I would like. I've been upping my workout times to 20 minutes, but still feel like I should be doing more. Right now, I'm focusing on form instead of reps & I can really feel a difference in how my muscles feel when I'm done. I haven't added any new exercises, just sticking with my old standbys.

                  Sat, 4/7: 20 min
                  Sun, 4/8: 20 min
                  Mon, 4/9: 20 min

                  160 minutes total so far this month.

                  I miss Christy, too!

                  Revamped my WOL starting 2/10/08.

                    bio, that's what i had to do with the slow swim, side plank and a couple other things.
                    concentrate on the form. both of those have gotten easier to do. good work on so many minutes!

                    in fact, as dorky as it might seem, i thought i would have jack take a picture of me doing each of those so you might have a better idea of just what i do. i think i have a way of doing showing them without having my picture plastered all over the place. when i have that taken care of, i'll let you know.
