      LOOK! bradybud posted this for us as the exercise of the day, april 10. something else to add to our routines.


      Squat and reach
      • Hold the fitness ball in front of you so that your arms are parallel to the floor. Bend your knees and reach out (A). Keep your back straight, and don't let your knees extend beyond your feet. You should see your shoelaces if you look down.
      • From the starting position (A), cough and hold to activate your transversus abdominis. Rotate your trunk and reach with the ball toward your left (B). Hold for three deep breaths — about five to eight seconds. Use your core muscles to pull yourself back to the starting position. Rotate to your right.
      • Vary this exercise by holding the ball in a downward position (C) or an upward position (D).

        I'm gonna have to give that a try!

        This morning, I did 20 minutes of my usual routine. I don't want to increase my ball time, so I think what I'm going to do is vary my exercises each day so that I can try new exercises. I'll do some exercises each time, but vary the last 10 minutes with new stuff.

        Revamped my WOL starting 2/10/08.

          jack found 3 exercise routines on our cable last night. you can go to these on demand stations and get all sorts of stuff. 3 workouts were for the stab. ball and many of the things we have already been doing. the first work out lasted 9 minutes. i think i will tune into that one in a little bit a do it. the last one was 27 minutes i think. jack went through it on fast forward.

          this routine added a couple of stretches that i had not seen before. the 15 minutes went by very quickly!

              We have some on-demand channels. I'll try to find that stretch routine. Do you remember which program it was, such as FitTV or such??

                ours is on channel 1025 but i don't know if it's the same for you, we are on Time Warner Cable.

                  19 minutes total.

                  i did a revision on my numbers for the 12th and 13th. i had put 15 minutes when it was only 9.

                  my current total is 166/255

                          bio (and anyone else peeking in) i wanted to tell you what stretch moves were on the tv on demand balance ball stretch

                          arch and roll center, to the left then to the right 3 x's each
                          side bends to the left, then the right 3 x's each
                          figure 4 stretch, once each left then right
                          lunge left
                          lunge right
                          side stretch (wicked)
                          backbend
                          forward bend
                          quadraped pose
                          hamsting stretch
                          bouncing (this being done while swinging the arms back and forth)

                          if you want details of any of these let me know.

                              Only did 10 minutes on the ball this morning....all stretches.

                              My poor butt, thighs, and quads are all sore from using the stairclimber so much. I hope this means I'm building some muscles!


                              Jimmie, is the figure 4 stretch the one where you place a foot over the other leg's knee? The others I can picture what I think it might be.

                                yes, on the program, the girl is sitting at the edge of a chair, ball on the left side, legs shoulder width apart. with left ankle on the right kness, you press your left knee into the ball, steady pressure but not forceful, flex your left ankle and spread your toes for a more complete stretch. hold this for what is probably about 15 seconds. then repeat on the other side.
