    There is no need to count calories. The Atkins Nutritional Approach counts grams of carbohydrates instead of calories.

    Although there is no need to count calories, they do matter. Gaining weight results from taking inmore calories than you expend through exercise, thermogenesis (the body's own heat production) and other metabolic functions. Research has shown that on a controlled carbohydrate program, more calories are burned than in a low-fat/high carb diet, so there is a certain metabolic advantage to the controlled carb approach. But understand that this does not give you license to gorge.

    I got in a one hour walk 3.6 miles 447 calories burned this morning.

      259 calories burnt from a 45 minute spinning class this am.

        115 calories burned on 20 minute weight workout and 373 burned on 35 minutes on the bike. Total 488.

            459 calories today. 10 minutes on the treadmill, 25 minutes on the bike, and 20 minutes on weight workout.

                    231 calories from spinning class Saturday morning
                    229 calories from spinning class sunday morning
                    905 calories from a 10 k road race on sunday night.
