    Here is the new challenge for October. Sign up and report what you burn each day. We will total them up at the end.

    There is no need to count calories. The Atkins Nutritional Approach counts grams of carbohydrates instead of calories.

    Although there is no need to count calories, they do matter. Gaining weight results from taking inmore calories than you expend through exercise, thermogenesis (the body's own heat production) and other metabolic functions. Research has shown that on a controlled carbohydrate program, more calories are burned than in a low-fat/high carb diet, so there is a certain metabolic advantage to the controlled carb approach. But understand that this does not give you license to gorge.

        642 this morning. 10 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes on weights and 35 minutes swimming laps.

            730 calories yesterday. 20 minutes on weights, 45 minutes swimming, and 15 minute walk.

            532 calories today. 20 minutes weights and 45 minutes on the bike.

                    I have 3 half marathons this month (2 more to go), that makes up for the lack of gym equipment available to me this month due to it being refurbished. The half marathons are my only way of knowing how many cals burnt.

                            Thanks for bumping this one up, I forgot to post my results from lunch time.....

                            221 calories burnt during a RPM class.

                            Hey, we really need to "big" this challlenge up and advertise for new members. A little quiet in here it being just the two of us.
