Re: Lord of the Rings Challenge - Calling all fans
Hey there, cleye!
Three months for a three-day walk... Just remember, the hobbits didn't have jobs and family and everything else to deal with! They just packed up and left! LOL! With my legs, knees and feet, it'll take me three years to get to Bree. HA!
Your husband did a nice thing for you! And truth be known, hikes across uneven land is really good for the feet. Use muscles and joints that normally don't get much use over continued flat surfaces. No wonder these hobbits were so sturdy...
I've been considering how to track all this and kind of getting ready for it. Just have some other priorities distracting me at the moment. But this'll be fun just as a side amusement. Anytime I walk, ride bike, or kayak, those miles can go into one of the catagories.
So let's see, walking will of course follow Frodo from the Shire. Biking will follow... hmmm, choices here. I considered Gandalf on Shadowfax, but you know, only seems appropriate to start from Edoras and head to Minas Tirith. Follow Gandalf later (HA!) And kayaking will begin at Loth Lorien and end up at the falls (unless I follow the slain Boromir over the falls. BWAAH!!)
(Yes, I'm laughing here! This is amusing as any LOTR geek would know... Oh, except for Tom Bombadil... never could stand that character... )
