Hi. Sooo... I was wondering if anybody actually wanted to try this out again? I know the last one was well over a year ago...

I guess I should tell people what they'd be getting into this time. Basically how the first one went was that you needed to sign up for three events. They needed to be completed in order (all your running miles before your biking miles, etc...). For the second one, to make it a little less challenging for folks, you could complete miles at the same time (for example, if you went running monday, biking tuesday, running wed, etc you could count all the miles towards that activity). We still kept with needing to have 3 different events (unless you had a good reason, then you could have 2).

Which brings me to the current situation. I'd like to have something that's a little more challenging than just a mileage challenge, or abs challenge, or exercise challenge... While I definitely think that a triathalon should have 3 separate exercises, even I am faced with the fact that I do not belong to a gym anymore, and am scared of moving bicycles (horrific childhood accident, it's not that creepy)... so what I'm proposing is this for the events:

    running (treadmill/outside/skipping/hopping/jumping/cartwheeling/etc) - 30 miles
    elliptical - 30 miles
    swimming - 10 miles
    rowing - 30 miles
    stairclimber - 25 miles
    bicycle - 100 miles
    crunches - 2000
    weights - 20 hours

It would still be a 6 week period of time, events could be completed simultaneously.

Please let me know if you'd be interested in this type of torture.

OK, I've read... so we should choose 3 events, right? I hope I got it right...

Hahaha. I can't believe you said yes before you read it. And yes, 3 events...

Well, Sergent Lyssie, I already knew you like torturing people.

Gooood... so I'll go for running, rowing and crunches. Though I feel like there should be another event, but I'll tell you about it somewhere else.

I'm a little scared by that last statement...

I think we need 5 people in order to have the competitive spirit fully stoked here... so 3 more. Takers?

              I'm also scared about it.

So, are you open to negotiation? I want to focus on running, and my time REALLY is limited. I'll take the 30 miles of running, but would very much like think the rowing and weight goals might be a little aggressive for me... is 20 miles of rowing and 15 hours of weights reasonable?

I'll compromise on the rowing... I have to think about the weights - it's only about 3 hours per week... and if you take BP class... I'll think about it... you know I get all scary when it comes to weights...

                    Re: Triathalon

Okay, but the rowing is also an upper body workout, right...? I'm not always necessarily going to BP class... therein lies the problem, right? But if I was, that would only be 2 hours a week -- I can't get the third class in and do long runs, too. Come on... have mercy on a struggling student (and mom, and wife, and employee). What if I'm willing to add 5 extra running miles. So, that would be 35 miles of running, 15 hours of weights weights, 20 miles rowing.

Believe me, Lys, if I do that -- with my recent eating and exercise track record, it will be a huge feat!

                    When does this start, anyway?

Okay. I can compromise for 35 miles running, 15 miles weights, and 20 minutes rowing...

I am not sure when/if it will start. I need at least 5 people... :P

I was thinking - start 10 November to end 21 December? 6 weeks to ramp up for holidays/new year?

Only 20 minutes of rowing?? Yahoo!!!! And I'm not sure how to do 15 miles of weights, but it sounds harder than 15 hours. A little like walking lunges with barbells or something horrible like that...

Okay, sorry -- I should just happily accept you kind compromise and shut up.

I think that timing sounds good.

Hahaha. Yes, you must do lunges for 15 miles with weights. Ugh. I was trying to find some nifty looking Dr. Martens, looking at a calendar, watching CSI, and writing that post. I seriously have no idea what I was thinking when I was typing that.

                          You know what I meant.

I'm in for the running, and abs and/or weights. I'm pondering swimming...but prob won't have time...

Can I get back to you?
