  • Walk/Run/Wog for the Ta-Ta's May 9th

In honor of women everywhere, I'm going to wog a 5k in the Race for a Cure for Breast Cancer with two friends next Saturday, May 9th.

We've dubed ourselves "Woggers for the Ta-Ta's". The team name for the Ta-Ta's was taken when we registered, we love it so much we'll just pretend that's our name any ways, but that's not stopping us from joinging in the race to save the ta-ta's and raise funds to fight cancer. And I'll post here before and after to share in the gory details of wogging with one who is a marathon runner and one who is a walker...together we'll wog our way to the finish line.

I'm not a cancer survivor, but I know someone who is.
I've not been through the chemotherapy or surgery, but I know someone who has.
I didn't lose my mother, sister, daughter, aunt, or friend to cancer, but I know someone who has.
I haven't had to face the "what if" and plan for my family's future without me, but I know someone who has.

I hope you'll join me wherever you are at next Saturday, May 9th to walk/run/jog/sprint/roll/move your feet to do a 5k (that's 3.1 miles...approximately).

Please don't let the title of "Wogging to Save the Ta-Ta's" scare you away from joining me on this walk for a cure!

Anyone is welcomed and encouraged to join in this challenge for any type of cancer, and for any man, woman, and child. After all, cancer has no ethnic or gender or age boundaries.

Let's race for the cure together!

I'm with you -- 2 time cancer survivor (not breast cancer), lost my favorite Aunt to breast cancer many years ago when there was no hope. In the last 3 generations we've lost 16 members of our family to cancer....I will gladly do my part next Saturday so hopefully someday this disease doesn't take anyone else's family members.

Count me in. My nephew is a cancer survivor. Sarcoma cancer. He was diagnosed when he was 17. He is now 21 and cancer free. I'll be walking for him and all who have endured such a jouney. Marking the 9th on my calendar as well.

Oh, I'm so glad! Thank you!

Maybe I should add if any one wants to walk for any cancer type it would be great....and you don't need to be a woman to do it!

i'm hoping for good weather for this event. is anybody else seeing predicted rain or bad weather? scattered rain is predicted for me but i've decided that the umbrella will be a part of my walking gear on saturday. i also decided to walk the 'boardwalk' at the park out of town. it's pretty cool and the whole path is fashioned like a mini boardwalk, wide enough for 2 people to walk side by side. if it's nice, i'll take pictures. it's a very peaceful setting. i'll wear my pedometer so i know how far i've walked. i'll have to travel the trail twice around + a little more.

i'm still trying to recruit jack to join me/us.

It's going to be in the 70's and sunny. I'm taking my family to the lake to hike the trails there. I'm looking forward to it. Everything is in bloom and i'll get a chance to cut some dogwood blooms for our wedding anniversary on Sunday. They were part of our wedding flowers on our wedding day.

                          Yep, it's awesome, Glenda!!

JimmieJo...I'm glad you're still planning on getting out...and recruiting . Can't wait to see those pictures. It's supposed to be mild showers in the a.m. and clearing in the afternoon. Okay, so that means we'll be wearing our rubber duckie gear. Wee hoo.

Sherri...enjoy that weather!! I love dogwoods...they're so beautiful this time of year.

imagood1....I think hail would prevent me to go. I wouldn't want to be knocked out, even for a good cause. We had hail storms last Sunday that were just wild enough to be called a late freak winter storm.

My good friend is picking up my packet and t-shirt with hers tomorrow since I have to work. She's a gem. She wranggled in her three kids to earn the entry fee and extra funds to go towards the Cure. So there will be six of us herding along like wild people. It'll be a hoot. I need to remember my camera to take lots of pictures. I've been told it's like a mass herding of people for quite a bit of the 5k until people spread out faster or slower...I want out of the pack and on my way. We'll see. We're starting to get really excited about it.

It is snowing here today. It was white when I woke up but it has melted for the most part. Still some snow coming down though. So it is COLD. I am running tomorrow no matter what. Even taking a good rest day today so I am ready to give it my all.
                            Have fun Lisa.
