  • Cool Running for the week of 7/10/05

Happy Sunday everyone! Hurricane Dennis has whizzed by us 200 miles to the west, so we are breathing a sigh of relief! We still got plenty of rain and wind .. so please pray for those along the Gulf Coast who will get a direct hit by this MENACE!!

No run for me today. I ran 4 days straight last week, 35 miles total. I am enjoying a day off! Will hit it hard tomorrow though!!

I have to OK to run Now thank goodness have to do it inside cause of my eye soreness but, I am excited to get to it.

I also bought myself a new WOrkout outfit WOOHOO!! It'sd made with the coolmax stuff and the top was med and the Bottoms get this Large Yes, Large how excellent. I am so excited to sport my new outfit on my 10 k. I know it's going to be a major body push to do it but, completeing it is such a high and also it's for a great cause.

The Outfit is very tight and the top has a Built in bra. So Betty Question, should I super hydrate the day before it's supposed to be +29C so really hot with showers next week??? So I am not sure what to do. I ahve to be there by 8am so I am going to be eating at around 6 so as not to get side stiches.

Any other tips I need, I bought a water bottle and carrier and I sure hope that's all I need I'll pack an extra battery for my MP3 player incase it dies. I can't run as well without toons.

So any tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Oh Sarah, cool max is THE BEST!! You will love that!!

As for tips: eat a high protein brekkie no less than 2 hours before the race (a couple of eggs and bacon and maybe some OJ?) ... a 16 oz bottle of water should be sufficient to get you to 6.2 miles ... relax, have a good time ... don't worry about your speed ... just enjoy yourself! Stay away from the post-race goodies .. they're ALWAYS high carb garbage....

      I'm so excited for you!!

They are of course having Pancake breakie maybe they will have bacon and sausage, I am packing my own snacks High fat I think I will pack 1 bar and then cheese, beef jerky, and some other stuff so I think that will be ok.

I am soo excited I'll be posting a pic after I am done the race I am hoping my hubby can take a pic of me crossing the finish line.

        Take care.

Re: Cool Running for the week of 7/10/05

Went out last night for a wog (walk/jog) and did that for 2.5 miles, then I just really wanted to see if I could finish a mile jogging alone, so I set out and you know what? I did it! I was enormously pleased with myself. It's been 10 years since I could run a mile without wanting to die, and I felt really good when it ended. It was outside my C25K plan, but I needed to see if I could do it. My right hip flexor is sore today, but other than that I feel in fine shape.

Today's a rest day, but I'm going to take my bike to a shop and have them inflate the tires so I can take a jaunt around the neighborhood before it starts raining.

This exercise thing is fun, though I can hardly believe I'm saying that out loud.

Off to eat some pesto chicken for lunch. (YUM)

Last week - ran every lunch hour, minimum of 30 minutes each
Weekend - short runs - 8 to 11 minutes (my hubby is just starting again). We usually have the dogs with us, too.

Today (Monday) ran 43 minutes at lunch with the guy from work. I don't know the distances, but I'm guessing about 5 km on 30-minute days; 7 or so today

4 miles for me today at noon in the intense heat. I didn't have much for brekkie, so that probably took its toll. I'll shoot for another 4 or maybe 6 miles tomorrow.

Well phooey, I wanna post something, but I don't run yet, so I'm gonna post my elliptical time , which is like jogging without the pounding of the joints! Did the elliptical for 60 minutes and a 5 minute cool down and burned 753 calories!

Just finished Tae Bo now will proceed with "domestic exercise"--laundry, vacume, sweep mop, preschooler tango, two dog chase, and finish with a hot pot dinner sauna. Before this WOE I barely had energy to do just my "domestic exercise" now I can do that and so much more. I guess I am not "just" a mommie after all. Keep on Truckin' everyone!!!!
