Re: Cool Running for the Week of September 18th

5 miles in a cool breeze this morning. I was thinking about what it will be like to run in the torrental rain and wind that Rita is forcasted to bring us next week. We have stocked up on non perishables and water as not sure of power issues and shortages due to the sheer number of people who have already fled Katrina and those now fleeing rita.

Oh and my MIL is on a cruise right now. In the gulf of Mexico. We are sure she is safe, just trying to figure out logistics as the ship left from galveston--ie her car is there--and there may not be a port to dock in after rita hits.

Tex - I hope that cruise ship is safe! The way the weather maps look, the hurricane is just barreling through the Gulf. Are you far enough inland that you don't have to evacuate? I'm not up on my Texas geography.

I did 3 miles this morning, mostly walking, with some running. Total of 45 minutes. I did one 3/4 mile loop in 7:41, and that felt really good! I don't have to work today, so it was nice to take my time and just be outside.

I am in the DFW area it should be down to a Cat 1 by the time it gets here. We should be just fine, I am mainly just concerned about a black out and shortage of basic supplies due to all of the exta people in our area. Things like water, coffee, cereal are already in short supply due to the Katrina victims taking shelter in the area. Just got word MIL is just fine, have a great time, still not sure where she will come into port or how she will get home, but at least she is safe(along with her mother and 3 sisters) Thank you all for your kind thoughts. No worry we are Texicans and we will be just fine

Re: Cool Running for the Week of September 18th

Short run tonight .. 2.4 miles in a drippy rain. Today was stressful at work and it was one of those days when I could have talked myself OUT of running .. but then I realized that the time I don't feel like running is the time I need to run the MOST. Even in the rain.

I feel pretty good right now!!

One mile and one tenth to Galveston, TX!

3 miles this morning. Not bad, considering scrathy throat and a visit from TOM. Rest tomorrow and depending on the weather sun a 10-13 miler. Be safe everyone and have a great weekend.

Betty--hope the job is better today.

Sarah, listen to your body. When you need to rest, you need to rest!

3.75 miles on my rollerblades this morning. I really felt it in my thighs and my gluts! Tomorrow I won't do anything, but then Sunday is the start of the 6WEC -- the first one I've ever joined! I'm still shooting for a sub 33:00 at the 5K next month.

I ran my 2 miles course in best time yet (16:45) yesterday. I thought I was slow especially after having to wait for cars at a couple intersections. I decided pushing it with another 4 mile run today when your knees already are sore was just foolish and pushing my luck.

Good idea not to Push your luck Bowulf If I am sore in that way I opt for an easy run but, if it hurts maybe ya need new runners LOL.

I am feeling better today not 100% but a heck of a lot better I am not having the severe nausea or almost vomiting or diarreah. I was not doing good yesterday adn ahving kids made it that much worse. I am going to do weights today as I ahve my long run which will probbably be short tomorrow LOL. I am aiming for 7 miles on the treadmill which will be around 10 in the real world I am really hoping to run it outside but, thinking that won't happen. It's been really cold here very frost and chilly. I have been liughting a fire every morning cause it's that cold. Wan some frost Betty. LOL.

Snow is comming soon and I'll be stuck inside I don't run outside well in the cold so to avoid severe asthma attacks I'll be inside.

Well I better go weights today I'll be doing my best.
