WOOOHOO Betty that's awesome. I ran 4 miles yesterday OUTSIDE. I was really moving and went with my oldest who road her bike. I think I was a littel too fast out of the gate cause by the end I was really tired, but, I'm stalling and I need to push myself to help me get past this HUMP.

I have dropped my milage a bit my body has been telling me to take it a bit more easy so I will maybe I was going too hard too fast. I am having an adjustment period and it doesn't feel good to run so long right now so I'll just drop it for a bit.

I lifted weights today to help me build the whole package I want to be Buff I think I am getting there slow and surely.

Not sure which thread to post in, but I'm going with this one!

So, I had fallen off the running wagon for about a week and a half. Saturday I got back out there. I planned on starting week 5 of Couch to 5K, but I really felt like pushing myself. I ran for 15 minutes straight! It was quite the accomplishment. I plan on going back to week 5 and completing my plan correctly starting tonight. I still feel like I could walk a ton faster than I am jogging, but oh well. I guess speed will come with time.

This coming Sunday is my 5K. I'm not where I had hoped I'd be, but it will still be fun and will be an accomplishment, no matter how I do

OK I'm starting to get nervous about the half. I know I can do it but my training has gone out the window. Between the garage, the baby, and now the baby's issues I haven't run in a month. I figure if I can get ten runs in before race day (8 5's and 2 10's) I'll be fine. But I hurt my back the other day bending over to pick up the vacuum cord, so I'm not even sure I can run. Althoug it might help my back, I don't know. I'll just have to see.

I miss you guys, I need to get out on the road again.
          Jim

I'm confused where to post too! Nikki, good luck on your first 5K. There is no shame in doing a walk-run! I know you'll finish!

Jim, you've a lot on your plate. You can only do so much!

Weight training day for me. Swam 400m yesterday followed by a 7K run.

SO SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE THREAD, YOU GUYS! I guess I was in such a hurry to start it, I didn't look closely to see you had already done it, Rach!! DUMMY ME!!

Nikki, WELCOME BACK! Great job getting back to running again! KEEP IT UP!

Jim, we've missed you here! I know your life has *got* to be crazy right now. Do what you can out there so you are ready for the halfer!! Cheering you all the way!!

I ran 5.3 last night and plan to do the same again tonight. I really need to get my miles back up to around 30-35 a week. Since the new job, I've been slackin! NO MORE OF THAT! My own halfer is a little more than 3 months away .. I gotta get going!

Well, have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! Again, my 'pologies for being so quick on the trigger with the thread!

Re: Cool Running for the week of September 25, 2005

Well, I haven't disappeared completely, but it's been a week since I've been on the board! My partner went in for a routine procedure last Tuesday and ended up having emergency surgery and being in critical condition for a few days. Doing much better now, thankfully, but I have a week behind me of NO RUNNING (at the hospital every night until at least 12:30, then crashing when I got home) and eating food from vending machines and the hospital cafeteria (whatever anyone would bring me). I've gained back 2 pounds, but considering what I've been through I think that's pretty good. And I'm back on induction today and feeling good. Now that things are stable I can again concentrate on taking care of myself.

I hope having a week off running won't put me back too far. I thought it might end up being good for my sore hip, to give it a rest, but weirdly it seems to have made it worse. I guess it misses the stretching and movement!

                Glad to be back though.

Don't apologize. Gosh how awful--two running threads e gads!!--lmao. Crazy night, no alarm I will have to run in the heat tonight.

Jim we are so glad your fresh baby is doing better and certainly there are times where things do come before running. You will do fine in your race, just take it at a slow pace.(rhyme was not intentional.)

I'll check in later with my mileage.

Well I actually have something to post here.(sortof) My truck was in the shop so today I walked to go pick it up instead of get a ride. About 2 miles, I jogged across the street and I felt it in my back but no pain. This back needs to get better, a couple more days maybe. I think I'm gonna do a 5 miler tomorrow morning before my oldest goes to preschool. Temps are nice in the morning high 50's low 60's great running weather.

If I can get 3 fives in by Saturday then a ten miler on Saturday, I'll feel a lot better about the half on the 9th. Plus I could use the weight loss, my food choices have helped me find 7 pounds I had lost. Plus I think I look fatter lately. But the clothes are still loose, so I'm still doing ok.

3 loops at the park this morning, 2.25 miles, 24:42. I think that's a record, but I haven't been recording my times anywhere except in these threads.

That's a 10:58 pace, which gives me an estimated 5K pace of 34:06. My hubby wrote me a little calculator program called "PaceCalc" that I keep on my desktop. You put in your time and distance, and then it estimates your total time for any distance that you select, e.g. Estimated Marathon Time, or Estimated Half-Marathon Time. I love it! Hey, if anyone wants a copy of this program, just let me know and I'll ask him how I can email it. I sent it to my dad and he uses it, so it's pretty easy to send via email.

jim - Good Luck ramping back up for your half. Don't try to cram in extra training because you feel you need to. Remember, overtraining is worse than undertraining.

Hey, I ran for 1 hour I had to take a step back cause I think I have been focusing too much on distance and pushing too hard for the distance that will come in time. For now I am going to go for time and take it easy I don't wanna burn out and not wanna run. I am listening to my body and it says slow down so here I am crazy girl gunna take it down a notch for a few weeks and see how I am after 2 weeks.
