2 mile run in the cold and fading daylight on Monday - best time yet. I dropped my time again by over a minute. Weather here is taking a turn to the colder temps (mid 60s for highs), so staying motivated to run outside is bit more difficult. (I know... I know... 30 degree weather is around corner and I will be longing for these days then.)

OK I got a run in this morning, 5 miles in 47:47, a couple of minutes of my best but not bad for not running in two months. Had plenty of wind (although I needed my inhaler after the run from the cold, 50 degrees). But I think the temp let me keep my HR down and my time pretty good. Had a little bit of quad fatigue at 4 miles but that'll come back quick. 5 more fives and 2 tens and I'll feel comfortable running the half Next Sunday.

Maybe when I'm done I'll write a book, "How To Train for a Half Marathon in 12 Days". LOL

I won't be saying that next year when I'm running the half will I now. I can't wait it's exciting thinking about it now that I ahve actually ran that distance.

Ok Betty, don't get too jealous, but I ran 6 miles in 60 degrees this morning. Ahhhh bliss. This temp should hold for a few more days. I am crossing my fingers that all my other southern pals are catching some of this cooler weather.

For my northern buddies, I will never have to run in snow(ok now there will be a freak snow storm in Texas) so I can't know how hard that must be, stay warm and be safe out there.

I ran for the first time in a week last night and it felt SO GOOD! I was worried I had lost some stamina, but I did 3.5 miles without a problem. It was cool out and windy and being out in the fresh air like that really helped calm me down. It's been such a rough week.

Also, I'm down another pound this morning, taking me to 201 and 199 is so close I could almost cry. I'm hoping to get there by next week, if all goes well. I'm back on track after my (unwilling) break last week and ready to get started on the second half of my journey. I can't believe I'm already halfway to goal.

I haven't been posting here for quite awhile, but I'd love to join you guys! After 105,107 degree weather the past few days, the cool front that came in early this a.m. made my 45 min. run INFINITELY more comfortable--of course, it was also quite windy, especially uphill! Good resistance, though!

Sarah, I am in Round Rock Fit, a local group of USAFit--marathon/half-marathon training program, and we do our runs during the week (on our own) by minutes and our long run (on Sat. with our pace group) by mileage. That way, if we have other circumstances, like not enough sleep, bad eating the day before, whatever, we're not stressing/straining to get that amount of miles in, we're just doing the time on our feet and not worrying about distance or speed... I think it works pretty well so far...

How are y'all about carrying your hydration? I just bought an amphipod Mon., as our runs are getting longer, and it becomes more important to carry our own (even though they have water stops). Just more training for race day! I tried it out this a.m.--I bought the 4-bottle belt, but am only using 2 right now, one for water, one for an electrolyte solution--and I love it! It really is bounce-free, and didn't bother me a bit. Pretty cool...

Thanks for the welcome! I am currently trying to keep up with my running blog, so I may miss a day here and there, but I will try to catch up with you guys regularly--I have been reading these here for awhile, but just haven't posted in forever...

texwife&mom: I live in Pflugerville, so yes Hutto is my neighbor--one of my best friends lives there, just 15 min away...

I am fairly new to running--I started end of Feb./beginning of Mar. w/c25k--but I feel we all have experiences/tidbits to share...I know I am quite addicted now

                              Happy running!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I am so looking forward to the 60s (that will mean its January here!) just in time for my half marathon on January 7th!! Meanwhile, I will continue to train in the HEAT...........

For my northern friends, I can SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO relate to those harsh cold long winters ... I spent 43 years in Nebraska! NEVERMORE NEVERMORE! I'll take the heat over cabin fever any day!
