  • Cool Running for the Week of Oct. 2nd

I don't think another thread has been started yet! 7k run, 600m swim and a 5k hike in the woods with the dogs. Have a great week everyone!

WOOOHOOO everyone I ran 11 miles today went well I am a bit sore took me 2 hours to run that far. YAY feels good to be back up to where I was guess my body was right I needed a little break now off to break into a 3 hour run. That's my next goal to run for 3 hours.

I didn't make my 13 yesterday. I only have 4 more weekends to get it done. We had a crazy weekend, but the time for excuses has passed. I ran 8 miles last night. I do not like to run at night!!! I won't make that mistake again. I am a morning gal for sure. I will check in with you guys later. Great job last week everyone.

Rach, just curious .. why don't you like running at night? I started running after dinner when I got the new job and I love it! Of course its ALOT cooler for me than running during daylight hours (yep, we're still at 90 degrees everyday!)

Re: Cool Running for the Week of Oct. 2nd

I wish I could run at night because I am not a morning person. If I run anything over 4k at night, I'm awake all night.

Re: Cool Running for the Week of Oct. 2nd

Well, it was hotter, darker, and I had food in my belly. I get spooked easily--too much horror fiction will do that to a person, and I just didn't like how dark it was. It was also easily 10-15 degrees warmer than when I start at 5-7am. When I run in the morning I do so on an empty stomache. Last night I had eaten too much and only waited an hour and a half before starting out at 8:15 pm. It was miserable. Oh well lesson learned. After my post I realize that more contributed to my misery than just running in the evening, so maybe one more try, all it can do is kill me. JK I may try to get in a few miles tonight, if hubby gets in say before 7pm. But I have already eaten my last (small) meal for the day (its 4pm ish), and I am not going to go if I have to leave past 7:30.

Oh girl, I know what you mean about getting spooked .. which is why DH always rides behind me on his bike. The trees along the sidewalk get pretty dense in places and the street lights don't shine through .. I would NOT run that route alone after dark ... Call me paranoid. I also wait at least an hour (more when I can) after eating before hitting the trail... I hope to be out there tonight by 7:30 ... gotta be home by 9:00 for MNF .. got a 55" TV delivered today so DH is psyched to watch football tonight .. (ME TOO!)

6 miles this morning. Hubby didn't get in until after 10pm so no run last night. We will try again tonight.

Ran 3.5 last night *without walking*. I just wanted to be sure I could do it, since I usually take a one minute walk break twice during a 3 mile run, but I did it and it felt great. I think I'm going to be fine on my 5K this weekend. Hurrah! Thanks for all of your excellent advice about that, by the way. You guys rock.

                          Hey all,
I'm back from my rafting weekend. We had so much fun! I gained a lot of weight because I totally fell off plan. Dealing with vacations is going to be the biggest stumbling block for me. I went walking yesterday & today, so that's already helped shed 1/2 of what I gained.

Reveal - You're going to do great in your 5K. If you can 3.5 without walking, then you're definitely going to knock out a 5K no problem. Let us know how it goes!

Tex - I'm with you on the night running. I don't like it. I feel much more sluggish and it's a lot tougher to get myself out the door at night. Only 4 more weeks until your half?! I can't wait!

It wouldn't be soo bad but, I ahbve to drive to get it done. I have been somewhat lethargic and last night I had stomach cramps from ****. The last time I had this it was high so I may need to go a bit lower which is soooo cool.

Any way thought I would let you know what I'm up to. I will run today just probably later on when I am more awake and stuff. I don't know how long I will run but, I'm sure at least either way I am doing it right.

Take care all ahve a wonderful day.

Well 5 days to the half, and I did a ten miler this morning. No walking at all, and not even my slowest time, 1:46:10, but 7 minutes slower than my best. It doesn't look like I'll break 2 hours for the half but race day is a different animal. A couple of more 5 milers by then and I'll be ready to go.
