  • hula hooping

    so I LOVE hula hooping, I make my own weighted (2-7lb) hoops and hoop(Dance,do tricks) for a total of about 2 hours every day, am I achieving any real excersize by doing this??just curious

    I saw someone doing this at the gym today.

    Maybe hula hoops will become the "new" Pilates

    Unless you get your heartrate up it's doubtful your burning many calories...but it's better than sitting on the couch!

      well see the thing that makes me think I might be burning calories is that I don't stand still, I basicaly treat it like an areobic activity. I put on some fast electronica music and dance my heart out while I'm hula hooping. I just can't seem to find any information about it online.

        If you can get your HR during your workout (measure pulse for 10 secs then multiply by 6) then you can go online and if you enter age/weight/hr/time it will calculate calories burned (fitday.com may do this)

          I am so jazzed - I think hula hoopin' is a great idea. If you are getting your heart rate up - it should do some good. Maybe it will take care of my middle that just wants to hang on to those handles (not love handles but HATE handles auuggghhh!)
          I am going to go and buy a hoop - hmmm!!! What color pink sparkles or green glitter?!?!?

            well, you could easily make one too. you should make sure it's a weighted hoop
