  • Schedule & Exercise

How do you schedule exercise into your day? Do you do it before you leave for work? After work? During your lunch hour?

And, do you workout with someone else or alone?

I always work out alone, and 9 times out of 10 I'll work out in the evening. I'm just not enough of a morning person - I value the extra sleep time. I usually work out while dinner is in the oven. The only time I ever work out in the morning is if I know I wont' have time that night.

        Re: Schedule & Exercise

I seem to run out of time. I find that the evenings are best. I have a gym at work but can never seem to get in there, even during lunch. I have two dogs waiting for me to get home to let them out and exercise them and than there is dinner to get ready (some nights) and then I might get some time for me.

I work out during the evening mostly alone except twice a week with my personal trainer. I make time for exercise no matter what. If the dishes have to stay in the sink then they stay in the sink.

Agreed, wanna!! Housework and stuff be darned, *I* come first!

I always workout alone and I generally do it within 30-90 minutes of waking up. That way it's out of the way and I get to feel good about getting it done for the rest of the day.

I don't work exercise into my day .. I work my day around my exercise.

That's the only way to get it done!

Things have slowed down for me a bit for the next few weeks, but the only way I could fit in excercise was waking up at 4:30 in the morning. Next semester when school starts back up again I'll have to do that again, but for the rest of December I'll do it when I wake up. I like getting it out of the way, that way I don't have to be thinking about it during my day. Plus in the morning it boosts up your metabolism for the rest of the day. I definatly need this because I may just have the slowest metabolism on the planet.

This is a great link. I love hearing the way other people do it. The way I do it is to wait until the very last thing of the day and then if I have time and I feel like it, then I go. If not, I chalk it up to a busy life and woe is me I don't have time for me. Hmm... What?
This isn't right? okay, okay, boot camp is kicking my butt. I must still be sleeping. I am coming around and working to make changes...

                        Good MORNING Kat!

I am pleased to say that with the new schedule we are now keeping, we will have regularly schedule gym time in the mornings, all of us. Good for me, good for the kids.

After the first, we are all also getting bikes, and going to go riding a couple nights a week, and also to volunteer at the pound to be dog walkers. Then, my kids get "dogs" (that I dont have to have a place that will allow me to keep them full time), and we all go walking. And they learn to help in the community.

Will be sending an email your way, just as soon as I get more than three minutes to do so.

                        HUGS!

                            Re: Schedule & Exercise

I do my walking first thing in the morning. If I don't get it out of the way, I make too many excuses to "do it tomorrow". I also have to exercise on an empty stomach, if not, I get very, very nauseous.

On weekday mornings, I wake up at 5:30 AM and I'm out of the house doing my walk by 6:00 AM. If the weather is bad, I do my exercise (usually a tape) indoors. When I walk outdoors, I carry hand weights with me, so I can do some upper arm stuff while I walk (kills two birds with one stone). Then I come home, jump rope, eat breakfast, and get ready for work.

On weekends, I sleep in until 8 AM and then I do my walking etc. I usually eat brunch.

During the evenings, I do yoga.

                              not2late,

The way you do it may be the way I end up doing it -- exercise in the morning to get it out the way. When I get home I just feel like I don't have any time and it is too dark outside to walk right now. We could go with a flashlight, but I don't really like walking where I can't see around me. We live in the country and see deer, skunk, turkey, bobcat and various other animals. We've been told that there are a lot of coyotes around here also. THEN I've just been reading that there have been sightings of Bigfoot! (eek!) Even if they are legends it still plays with my mind somewhat...(giggle).

My DH is almost finish renovating the living room and may set up our workout bench/weights in there temporarily and start our weight training soon.

I've been watching the Vidiots thread and it seems that everyone there is having good results. So, I'm excited about starting that in January with the Slim in Six and Turbo Jam.

Thanks everyone for sharing your routines.
