Good to see you Denise! Hope your new job is fun, as well as keeping you on your toes. Sounds like you're still keeping moving too... which must make Benji very happy!

I've been completely off track (exercise wise) for five days over Christmas. Was at MILs in Anzio. But did get quite a bit of walking done down there. I seem to have accumulated two/three pounds though over the last couple of months... all my trips have upset routine. Gotta get rid of those pronto!
Got home yesterday and was back to exercise and dog walk this morning!

just checking in to see who's checking in :0

off to a good start, i am i am. i got biking done yesterday and today, threw in some flights today and more pushups.
i got myself back into a few challenges. i guess i'll be 85 years old and still doing challenges to keep me motivated. lol

jack did some figuring for me when i was biking. i have to do 160 flights a week to earn the virtual mountain award by the end of the year. now, that's doable but that's alot of climbing!

we need to get silly in here and make sure she is doing some walking. we don't want her huring her back and getting laid up but we need to make sure she's exercising.

Glad you're hopping Jimmie! I've picked up on the exercise again... it was slow over the hols, except for the stair climbing.

Interesting calculation (160 flights a week). As you say...doable, but hard.

I hear you re Silly... walking is great exercise for bad backs.

i gotta remember to pm silly and get her over here. it's a good place to be accountable when you aren't doing challenges.

sal, i passed you by today! i did 61 flights so i'm between you and susan now. i've done 122 this week so getting the 160 in for this week should be very doable. i shouldn't bike on the same days i do flights, i know that. my legs ache.

Oh my! Good climbing Jimmie!! I'd better get my skates on... but I didn't get many stairs done yesterday afternoon/evening.

                    sadie?
                    sal?
                    denise?

we should be seeing ragtime and silly in here too!
and ject lewt and any other goalie.

just an update, and please, don't breathe a word of this to boonie. the fact that she had so many flights just spurred me to get busy so i did, 121 flights today. it took an hour and i did 10 flights with a minute break then 10 flights and so on.
also got some ball pushups done today. that challenge is on track.
the mileage challenge is on track. i biked big time yesterday, doing over 14 miles.

dang my thighs and butt are feeling the burn.

I'm here!!! I was gonna post in here last night actually and forgot! I'm having a hard enough time remembering to post in my stats journal LOL.

Way to go on the flights Jimmie! I'm going to start going back to the gym too..not sure if i will do the stepper, if it gets colder here i'll probably be doing my running at the gym. Started up again last week on my running and have been keeping up so far so good.

I've started taking Glucosamine/Chondroitin for my Knees and I can't believe what a difference it's making! the pain is pretty much gone. So no excuses now.

sadie, how long have you been taking that supplement? what's the dosage?
i've threatened many times to feed jack "more pills" and this may do the trick for him.

good for you getting to the gym. you know if you every get back to the flights, you have one of the worst climbs out of the way.

Awesome effort on the flights Jimmie! At this rate you'll be tackling Everest in a blink!

Sadie... terrific that your new supplement is helping your knees!

As for me... still doing my walking and workouts. Need to ring the changes a bit, but right now too busy to even think about making changes.

Jo I've only been taking htem for 2 weeks now and the pain is completely gone (and that is with running!). I had a friend with knee problems that recommended I try it, my husband tried it for his tennis elbow a while back without luck, but i think that's more of a tendon problem, than joint/cartiledge, and he's not really great at remembering to take pills. Not sure about there but it's very popular here..it's everywhere in the pharmacys.

Now I did a search so I could put a link in with some information..only to find a reference to raising blood sugars and glucose levels! well duh jennifer..it's called glucosamine LOL. Anyway I did some reasearch, and I didn't see any proof that it does raise blood sugar levels. They say it acts differently than glucose, i guess if a person was diabetic they'd be best to test their blood sugars, I haven't had any issues yet. I always take mine with a full meal, which is what is recommended and I have had no problems. I may try to cut back though...right now I'm taking about 3000 mgs a day which is what the bottle says..i may cut out 1000 of that (it's 6 pills 3x a day). Here is what i found on it:

                            http://www.vitamins-supplements.org/...lucosamine.php

I was actually shocked at all the health benefits of it.

Another good article on it (apparently it worked better in some cases than asprin for pain) http://nutrition.about.com/b/a/220065.htm

I was very skeptical since it didn't work for my husband's elbow, but it has definately worked for me.

So, no running for me this week, it's been hovering around 5f for a couple of days here big change from the 40's/50's we've been seeing all winter! We also had freezing rain so the sidewalks are frozen.

I came accross a set of yoga dvd's at a discount store for 19.99 for 5! I've done them this week, and i can really feel it. the cd's are great, it has an a.m. 10 min workout, evening 10 min workout, a 30 min core workout and a 60 min advanced one. The 5th cd is a diet plan, doubt i'll be watching that one

So this week I've been sticking to yoga, ball pushups and my crunches and a few pilates moves.

Next week I'll be joining the gym so i can use the treadmill now that it's cold again. I didn't go this week because of the freezing rain.

it's gotten colder here too, sadie. the roads are clear around here but snow fell in parts of the area yesterday but nothing stuck.

i've been busy with biking, flights and pushups. i've been taking time to look over the exercise of the day and devote some time to those one day a week and doing them in between the other stuff.
i really need to broaden what i do. i have some dvd's but can't seem to get in gear with them. too many things, not enough time.

sadiejen, when jack is making the money he needs to make, when things get squared away from him being out of work, i plan on getting some of the supplements that have helped you. if jack would lose about 20 pounds, it would help him tremendously. the suppplements would be more benefical to him then.

did you see in your journal about the oats? what a good buy i found with them. i got some more the other day and the cost was 49 cents a pound, if i remember right. that's practically a steal compared to what i was buying them for.
