  • When do you exercise and why?

    Morning, afternoon, night, whenever you get around to it?
    Before or after you eat or either way?
    What works best for you and why?

    For me it's more of whenever I get around to it. It depends on my daily schedule. Sometimes I eat before, sometimes after, it depends on when I exercise. I haven't tried a set schedule so I don't know if any other way would work better or not.

    I workout in the afternoon because my dd goes to swim practice 3x/week. She is gone for four hours so that gives me plenty of time to workout, shower and get ready to feed the "swimming stomach".

      Generally i will excercise in the evenings because I work during the day. But if I am ever off work or its a weekend I excercise at anytime.

      So I polled "Whenever I get around to it".

      I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

        I'm with Richt. I exercise at night on work days, but during the morning or afternoon on the weekends.

          I exercise whenever I get around to it. I work nights 3 nights a week, so I'm sleeping during the day. Some days I workout at 5pm, other days I'm done by 10am.

            I exercise in the morning so I can get it over with for the day. Otherwise, too many excuses come up in the evenings...

            Besides, I feel good all day that I accomplished my workout and it makes for a more positive outlook for me. I like that!

              I exercise when ever I get around to it. I work from home from 1pm-7pm 6 days a weekare taken up. Sometimes in the morning as soon as my son gets on the bus sometimes at night if i need to try to wind down from working.

                I said whenever I get around to it, but it's always planned. I work all day and get up too early as it is, so I prefer to workout after work before dinner. I'll stop at the gym on the way home or do a tape when I get home. Sometimes because of family scheduling I can't do it til after dinner, but I don't like bouncing around when I'm full of food so I don't do that often. On weekends it's whenever it fits into the rest of the day.

                  Very true! That's where I find that joining an exercise challenge helps. The other day I didn't exercise until midnight but the fact that I actually did it instead of putting it off was amazing. I didn't want to be a slug.. lol.

                  It's cool to read about what others do and why. Call me nosy, but I love it lol.

                        I exercise both in the morning and in the late afternoon, both BEFORE eating.

                        I like the morning routine because it wakes me up in the morning (gave up caffeine Jan 1, 06!!), and it at least assures me that I've done something for the day regardless of what trials & tribulations I'll face that day. Morning aerobics is either the treadmill or the stationary bike. I stretch and/or do ab work in the mornings, too, but after the aerobics.

                        HOWEVER, I don't like working out in the morning for weight lifting and aeorbics where I have to be coordinated (for the likes of Debbie Siebers or Turbo Jam). My muscles are way too stiff for such a workout, and I'm the BIGGEST CLUTZ in the morning. Just ask my hubby! So, I do those types of exercises when I get home from work & have dinner afterwards. I have a small snack (usually a hard boiled egg) about an hour or so before I start exercising so that I'm not famished when I get home.

                        The great part about exercising when I get home is that I take out my frustrations & aggressions during my workout, not my hubby or kids. EVERYONE appreciates a HAPPY MOM & WIFE!!!!

                          I exercise in the morning if I'm by myself - to get it over with before my day overwhelms me. I also go once or twice a week with my neighbor after she gets off work - that helps me having a buddy. I have noticed though that the more motivated I am to really do this, the less I'm needing her support. I almost want to go without her in the morning just in case she would call and cancel - then I would have a hard time going at night. Easier to stay at home with my hubby!

                            Evening because I work and I'm too lazy to get up at 5:00 am.

                            Usually before dinner...better on an empty stomach.

Not yet Actually I'm just doing Si6 and working in some various other exercise (Pilates video or something at the Y) because I don't have the TJ or Slim Series videos. But it's all good, Si6 is a helluva workout. I feel like I need to workout at the Y some so I don't feel like it's a waste of money lol. Plus I love going there.. well usually.
