Re: Cool Running for the week of January 15, 2006

It took me around 4 hours, give or take, to do the 20.25. I didn't push myself too hard. I am focusing on a good pace, not speed. To sustain myself for the 26.2, I have to find a comfort zone. At 50, I know I'll never be a speed demon!! But I just want the satisfaction of knowing I DID IT.

Now, please hand me the ibuprofen!

By the way .. people who have done marathons say the 18th mile is the hardest and THEY ARE RIGHT! I felt great at 15 miles .. but those last 5?

I ran 7 miles today took longer then usaual but, I wanted to be sure I would be able to run it. According to my Schedual for running on a treadmill you start out with you incline on 1% so stimulate you hip muscles you use them a lot when you run outside so I did that today and ran a bit slower. I did great finished 1 hour 30 minutes which is all right not a speed record but, I am happy.

Well, I'm back! I finally got the go-ahead for running from my doctor after my ankle injury and I'm raring to go. I actually had to stay away from the board for a while because just reading about you all running was making me jealous! I admit that I'm scared of running tonight, for a few reasons: first, it'll be over 3 weeks since I've run, and I'm afraid of how that has affected my stamina. What if I can't even do a few miles? Eek! I think that would kill my soul. Second, I'm afraid of injuring my ankle/hip again, and that's in the back of my mind.

But I'm going to take it easy and warm up good and then get out there. It's 50 degrees here today and lovely, and perfect running weather for mid-January. Wish me luck, y'all!

WElcome back to running. Dont think about that leg! I have a robo foot (as my family says) a plate and 7 screws in my lower leg. It bothers me sometimes but I have found that since i started running it doesnt bother me as bad.

Take it easy and that weather sounds perfect for running. It's humid and yucky here in Texas!
