Betty, A big thankyou for giving me the link to www.mapmyrun.com

I use it all the time now. I did 5.5 miles on Thursday evening in just over 58 minutes. And at 4:30 this afternoon, myself and a friend are going to do another 5.5 mile route.

5.46 miles this afternoon, in a time of 56:10 (which I am happy with).

According to map my run -

        10:17 minute miles

        Average speed of 5.83 mph

        739 Calories burnt.

8 miles in. I was only schedule for 4 miles, but the weather here in Michigan is finally nice. That's about 50 degrees with a slight breeze. Perfect.

For the week (5,8,5,8,12) for 38 miles.

In addition to the mileage, I lost 5 pounds this past week and had to
give 5 more pairs of pants to the Goodwill because they're too big!

I'm seriously considering lowering my goal from 174 to 160. I'm in uncharted territory here. I haven't weighed this little since 8th grade I think. I picked the 174 because it was the weight at which I would first have a healthy BMI. I also thought I would have lost my gut by then. Well, I still have the gut and am thinking that with the rate at which I am losing weight (while adding carbs and going into OWL Rung #4) that 160 seems very doable right now.

Sorry to ramble, but I am so happy with the running and the weight loss right now that I could just bust.

Re: Cool Running for the Week of April 9, 2006

Yesterday, I walked 1 mile in the morning with the dogs and Hubby then got home and went for a 4 mile run then early evening we (hubby & I) went for another 4 mile walk. It felt great. I am a little down because I seem to have plateaued with my weight loss - I mean I haven't lost anything in months! Now that I am doing a lot of running, I have gained a couple of pounds and have not lost inches. How depressing!

I am not sure about how many calories. I eat about 20 - 25 carbs a day and always acceptable foods. I do have a weakness for sugarfree jello so that may be stalling me. I don't eat a lot of it but I do every once and a while. I may have to cut back on my splenda and jello and see if that helps me.

Thanks Betty once again for being a sounding board and for all your advice. Now that the weather is nice I am going to be getting outside more and I will run AND walk my soon to be little butt off!

Hon, could you do better by adding in some more good carbs? 20-25 seems a bit low to me. And lots of people on this board can attest to the fact that their weight loss resumed when they added in more complex carbs. Might be worth a try, what do you think? Hang in there and OUTWAIT YOUR BODY .. it cannot hold on to the weight forever, especially the way you are burning off the calories!

Monday: 6.3 miles on the nasty concrete sidewalk. GRRR. Hate it. Why can't the world be soft asphalt?
