  • Cool Running for the Week of May 7th to May 13th

    GOOD MORNING RUNNERS/JOGGERS!!

    Just a quick thread start today .. heading off for a 5 day cruise with DH .. leaving today (Monday) and will be gone until Saturday. Can't wait to hit that jogging track onboard!

    Recovering nicely after yesterday's terrific-ly HOT 15k .. feeling good though! Very happy to have finished it in 1:49:14 given the 90 degree heat at the end!

    Have a great week of running! I'll post my miles as usual once we get on the ship!

    WOW Betty have a whole pile of fun.

    It's 13 days to my Halfer I got the Go ahead to run again OMG Thank you!!!! I did 3 miles in 30 minutes today I don't wanna push it too hard being the first day back wanted to feel the Body out and see where I am at. Also another good news Not I am down to 178 WOOOHOOO for me I ROCK LOL.

    I really pray now that god will give me the legs to finish my halfer since I was sick for 2 full weeks.

      107 POUNDS LOST! OMG, THAT IS FRIGGIN' UNBELIEVABLE!! GIRL, I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O IN AWE OF YOU!

      There is *nothing* Sarah can't do!!! Girl, you totally ROCK!! And you're worried about running 13.1 measly miles? PLEASE!!!!!!! You will FLY!! Next up for you, hon, a FULL MARATHON!!

      I ran 2 miles on the jogging track here onboard the ship .. I wanted to do 5, but the wind was INCREDIBLE .. all 99 pounds of me was BLOWING IN THE WIND .. I will try it again later after the wind DIES DOWN ...

          Thanks sooo MUCH Betty and a New PIC lol. Now if my Damn legs would shrink I would be really really happy.

          I am planning anoother 30 minuites today on the TM followed by legs.

                Sarah!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the new pic!! Its a beauty!! The change in your body is absolutely MIND BOGGLING!!

                You are right; you are OBSESSED AND CRAZY TOO!!! But I love ya!!

                3 miles in today on the jogging track on the ship ... the wind was FIERCE and nearly blew me into the ocean! Great resistance though!! Followed by an intense weight machine workout!!

                NO VACATION FROM EXERCISE!

                  Thanks Betty I love it too. Happy to be where I am now, if my legs would go down a Bit more I would be completely happy but, always room for improvement HE HE.

                  Good run girl the last outdoor run I did I was getting hit by 60k winds blowing me around it was nastie ***. Good thing you didn't just fly away.

                    6 miles done Tuesday evening. Knocking 40 seconds off of my time at the 6 mile mark last week. So very happy.

                    I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

                        OK I paid I am officially in the 1/2 marathon WOOHOO I got myself a new running outfit cause I am OBSESSED I am sooo excited right at this very MOMENT can you belive that this goal is gunna finally become a reality WOW I never realized how great it was gunna feel to pay that guy the 75 bucks YAY me. Now all I ahve to do is Get my Protein bars my Mac nuts and I am good to go WOOHOOO. This is sooo exciting Oh the new runningo outfit is a small top and a med Pan, the pants are tight but, I hate lose stuff whe I run so it's good and it's the coolest Orange I have ever seen on the top the Bottoms are grey with the Orange Piping on the top and they go Just below the Knee.

                        Yup Betty I have like 6 runnig outfits I am sick HELP ME HA HA not I love my gear it keeps me excited.

                          My running has been pretty sporadic but am trying to do it when I can. I am still here reading all of your posts - I guess you can say I am living vicariously through all of you! Great job Sarah with all your weight loss - that is trully amazing! The half marathon will be a drop in the bucket for you. Betty - lucky you being on a Cruise ship and keeping up with your exercise - you go girl! Richx2 - keep on running and keep up the good work!

                            I am assuming this is where we are to talk about how much we ran today. I ran for 40 min and walked for 5!

                            Forgive me if this is not the right place for questions about running and Atkins, I am new.

                            I am in pre-training so I can begin training for a marathon , hopefully you followed me. I start official training in July.

                            I have some questions. I hope you don't mind.

                            I recently began eating the Atkins way. Everything I read about as far as marathon training and running a marathon talks about how you must eat carbs and drink sports drinks, jells, to get through the long runs and marathon.

                            So what do you do on long runs? What do you eat before a long run?

                            Today is day 1 of a clean induction for the next 14 days. Then I will stay on induction until I loose 30 pounds. I feel like I have more energy on Atkins then before with all my carbs, but I am not doing any long runs, just building up my endurance at this point.

                            I am running/jogging/walking 5 min 40 min MWF and running/joggin 30 Min TTH with weight training on TTH. Is this okay on induction?

                              I can answer this and so Can Betty she has run a Full on Low carb.

                              You don't need a ton of Carbs to run, your body needs to adapt to your new WOE you may find that for the first while you do feel lethargic and tired and can't get a very good run in. You body is adapting, as it adapts your body becomes accustomed to using it's own fat as Fuel, instead of relying on a glucose injection basically your body starts to efficently use it's own fat efficiently as fuel. I won't lie to you, for some this does not take long to adapt for others like me it took 3 months fo me to efficently run on low carb but, I can run no problem now without the ups and downs that carb loaders get. I feel as energized after my long runs as I felt before Just a lot more sore LOL.

                              As for me I usually try and eat 2 hours before I run. I eat a High Fat meal and also a Protein shake. This would consist of fried eggs, and sausage or Bacon and also some tomatoes and celery for my veggies. I can run for over 3 hours without needing anything when I run other then fluid after that I ahve to take a protein bar Low carb or some Mac nuts good for fats on your runs. Basically it comes down to training your body in a new way.
