  • Need Advice on Exercise

    Hey everyone

    I have been staying with my bf alot. Personally I live about more then an hour away so he usually picks me up. So i'm at his house right now wondering if there is certain exercises that can help me lose weight that doesn't involve machines.

    For example how many times should you go up and down stairs to concider it a good work out. For it to count as burning fat.

    Any Tips I'd really be greatful. Thanks!

    Hey, Jellybee- under quick links at top, pull down & click edit signature. You'll get a box like this one, you can type, use up to 5 (?) pictures &/or smileys. In this box at top is a yellow box of a sun over a mountain. Insert a web path of a picture you want to insert here. You can upload your picture in general membership under "ADBB Gallery" (purple toolbar at top) from your pc.BTW, I do not hardly ever use machines. I get enough exercise without them. I take walks, dance, (you can do other things with BF too ), wiggle a lot in my chair & do buttclenches at this computer!
    You can bike, swim, jog, do sit-ups, jumping jacks, pushups, c'mon! The key is MOVE. Stretch, lift weights, and do things to get your heart pumping. Variety is the best way to get a fit body.

      For stairs, you should do as many as you can. You'll feel it because you'll start sweating and your heart will start pumping faster. Keep count of the number of times you do it to achieve that sweating-heart pounding. Then you try to do that number at the same rate. Keep doing that repetition until it becomes "easy". Then you can either increase the time you do it (keeping up the same rate) or you can increase the rate and do it the same amount of time.

      But Boonie is correct: jumping jacks, knee bends, sit ups, push ups, windmills----they're all very good exercises that don't require equipment. Many of the exercise videos use variations of those old Phys. Ed class exercises. And personally, I think those exercises are much more effective because you're forced to concentrate on your form and so those muscle groups are properly/effectively worked. As opposed to when you're doing those exercises and trying to do dance steps at the same time.

        just plain walking will burn fat if you are going at a brisk rate. any time you move your body you will be buening fat on atkins.

          Thanks everyone those are all good tips!!!! Love them all. I will try and come up with a good routine for myself. Did one a long time ago it seemed to give me a burn... going up and down those stairs is a killer but worth it I'm sure.
