  • Cool Running For The Week Of November 5, 2006

Good morning runners, walkers & joggers!

Just got back from my Monday morning wake-up run of 6.3 miles. Okay, I'm awake now!!!

What's on everyone's agenda for this week? I plan to get a good 30+ miles in ... only 183 more miles til I reach my 1,500 mile goal for 2006!

    Have a great running week!

Re: Cool Running For The Week Of November 5, 2006

There is an article in the Runners World magazine this month, its about treadmill and that the average amount of time any runners run on the tm is around 30 minutes as they find it boring.

Well to spice it up you do the following

Run at an easy pace for 5 minutes.
Then increase the incline and run at that same pace for another 2 minutes
after two minutes increase the speed by 1kph
and repeat this every 2 minutes. Until getting to a pace that you cant manage for the full 2 minutes.
then you just reduce the speed by 1kph every 2 minutes until getting back to where you started and then doing a 5 minutes cool down at the easy pace again.

        I did the following

        5 mins @ 8kph
        2 mins @ 8 kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @ 9kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @10kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @ 11kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @ 12 kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @11 kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @ 10 kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @ 9kph + 1% incline
        2 mins @ 8kph = 1% incline
        5 mins @8kph

My aim is to do this everyime I go to the gym. Eventually building it up to get to 14kph. But also going up and down twice. (if that makes sense)

5 miles this morning, started before dawn. Felt a bit like Forrest GUmp watching the sun come up as I was running. LOL Took another minute and change off my time. Not back in form yet but getting there.

Well hurt my back running yesterday but worked it out and finished the run. Thought I was ok today, 1/2 mile in it locked up again. Took a bit longer to work it out so my first mile took almot 25 minutes, but finished in good form with minimal discomfort. But I finished another 5 miles and that is what is important.

                    Well deserved day off tomorrow.

Day off today, my back was killing me this morning but is much better now. I'd love to sneak in a run while the babysitter is there (DW is working) but I don't think that's gonna happen. Rest good and I can get a good run in tomorrow.
