                Hi Sarah,

Happy new year to you! Glad to hear you are still positive and strong about your weight loss and strength training!

One question ..... do we have to have full gyms in our house to do this or??
What weights and equipment do you use in your house?

                Thanks,

                Jen

Jen, Sarah's kinda hit or miss these days, so I'll try to give you some info until she can get here to do it.

You don't need a full gym at all. Canned vegetables will work to start...honestly! You want to start slowly with light weight anyway. So, you can do that and work up to heavier weights. Look up the exercises on the websites she has in the first post and just start with canned vegetables.

It's ok if you don't have a bench that's where a ball is awesome it's a great bench and is easily stored, doesn't take up much room. no you don't need a lot of weight canned goods are great just be sure you grab the same cans LOL.

I hope this helps. I swear by my exercise ball I love it and it's 8 doallars

Ohhh, I wouldn't use a glass coffee table. Do you have a stability ball??? You could use that.

Tonight I ran 5.5K in 40 minutes. Then I did 3x15xBW walking lunges, 3x12xBW Single leg calf raises on the steps, and some squats to the Yoga Booty Ballet DVD. I also did the full ab portion of this dvd.

                          Re: Bodybuilding 101 January 2007

Joy how many minutes of exercise are you doing per day and how long have you been exercising like that for? Sorry for the questions! I am inspired by both you and Sarah

I noticed that you made the same goal I made last year at this time, except you are living proof that you stuck to it!

Here in the Gulf everyone is so lazy here, they have helpers for all services, like when going grocery shopping someone unloads the cart for you, packs the bags and pushes the cart down to your car for you. THis morning I told the guy please I will push my own cart, and I did! I even unloaded by groceries by myself into my car, I'm NOT going to let anyone do these things anymore for me. Every little bit of moving around and pushing and pulling counts I believe. I am not going to be another spoiled, lazy western expat living in the Gulf...NO DARN WAY!

The only real service that I cannot avoid is washing my OWN car. There are no facilities for me to do it myself, so that is a given.

I told my hubby this morning that tonight I'm gonna crank the music up loud and dance for a while till I work up a good sweat. Why not huh?

I think that's a fabulous way to work up a sweat. There is something about music that gets your blood moving, and the body just follows along easily.

I exercise about an hour a day. It's taken me a year to get to this point. Before that I was very sporradic (sp) about exercising. I've only recently become regular about it. Joining other people on the board who are enthusiastic about exercise really helps. Sarah, Juliarama, Outback Jess, Adena and Lyssie have all been very inspirational and we all try to help keep each other exercising and doing more and more. Get to know everyone and join in on the challenges.

Oh ya I love dancing around a lot of the time that's how I modivate myself to run LOL. I start by dancing and then I wanna run funny as it may sound. I am not exercising a ton outside of work but I sure do try. My job involves a lot of walking and I am not talking back and forth down a hall. I walf through snow drifts and hills and on grades probably about 3 miles or more a day lol. My whole day is spent walking HE HE HE good for the legs I guess. I walk on Ballast all day long and it's really nastie to walk on( that's the rock under the rail road ties) I get sore walking on it all day but, I am getting better my legs are getting really strong now from all the walking and stufff. I have a whole lot more endurance HE HE.

So any how I am tired I am transitioning to nights so I am awake for as long as possible I am going on 19 hours awake now and I feel BAKED I need to go to bed. What would be the best is if I had someone whom I could stay up with right now and have for company now that would be super.

Any how 2 more days and 5 Off I may work an overtime though so maybe only 4 off. I will be running and doing weights either way.

                              Take care all.
