  • Another half marathon PB

Hi all, just a note to say that I knocked a further 5 minutes off of my half marathon personal best time yesterday!

I completed the Bath Half Marathon in 2:04:45. Finishing 5,467 out of 8,165

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Healed and I have an appointment with a chiropodist on Wednesday to try and stop them from happening again.

Rich, I swear by Vaseline on the bottoms of my feet. Yeah I know, sounds gross, but it really does eliminate the FRICTION. Also, I love the Thorlos socks that are seamless and have lots of extra cushion inside. If you wash them inside out and they will FLUFF in the dryer .. they are the bomb, especially combined with the vaseline.

Betty, I actually think its the padded socks that caused the blisters. I didnt have any up until 3 weeks ago. Wear them for two runs, and suffer with blisters both time. I didnt wear them yesterday and voila, not blisters.

Mrs Chiropodist lady will be a help I am sure.

heeheehee. Noooo, I just love them in general, don't worry, I don't wish ill will on you.
They're softer, and bouncier... but maybe it's because my feet don't move that much in my shoes so I don't get blisters in general?? I dunno...

                          Re: Another half marathon PB

I wear the Thorlos socks for running as well and I swear by them. Question for you Rich. Are you wearing the right size running shoe? I am a 12-1/2US and normally wear size 13. But the l;ast pair of running shoes I bought were a size 14, and I have not had a single blister nor have I lost a nail since (prior I had lost the same one twice). I lace them tight but have plenty of room in the toe box.

                          Just a thought.

Oh, and great job on the PB. I still have yet to run a halfer (doh!).

                            Re: Another half marathon PB

Okay Rich I have a question. This past Sep I took up running, mostly because I found walking took up too much time. Anyway, I found I loved it. Suprising for someone who was never a big exerciser. So I am okay at it, not the best or marathon quality by far but good for a girl in her 30s. Short distance I do about 1.5 mile in about 9 minutes. My best attempt at any sort of distance has been 9 miles at just over an hour (like 65 minutes...give or take the time it took to make sure the dogs didn't get out as I came in the front door...with DH inside timing me) Overall, longer distances I've averaged about an 8.5/9 min mile. Okay here is my problem.....I have considered doing a run like something small 5k or 10K however....I NEED MUSIC. I can not run period without my MP3. As you know most frown up using them, so any ideas for me. I am addicted to the beat. LOL So for all of you runners out there...how do you get over the music hump and concentrate on the sheer beating of feet. Any suggestions

P.S I have had to stop intermitently because of health things, broken toe...shin splints etc. but have tried to maintain some consistency.
