  • What can I do for aerobics?

    Hey everyone,

I was excercising regularly for three weeks. Well, I might have over did it because I have a very painful heel bruise on my left heel and it is very hard for me to get on the treadmill or do anything requiring walking or movements with my left heel (I have never had one of these and it is incredible how painful it is!!! )

Any recommendations on what excersises I can do that will help slim me down rather than bulk me up????

    Thanks,

    RJ

You might do floor exercises until your heel feels better. Also, water aerobics wouldn't put any pressure on it.

Females really don't bulk up unless we're taking male hormones. Take a look at Joy-Valid Rouge and Julie. They lift weights and still look very feminine and shapely, not bulky.

I did Slim in 6-by beachbody. Lost 11 inches and 12 pounds in that 6 weeks. You can probably get the dvd's on ebay fairly cheap.

Sorry about the heel and I hope it's better soon! Make sure it's totally well before you start using it much again. You really don't want to reinjure it while it's still tender.

Take care, and best of luck!

As luck would have it, I fell and landed on the same foot...so, I have also spranged my left ankle My doctor asked me if I had a vendetta with my left leg I am out of commission for awhile with aerobics but I am going to do some light weights. Thank you so much...while I know I should not "just go by the scale", when I do weights the scale seems to go to the right rather than then the left and I get discouraged.

I really appreciate advice and I am going to take it!!!!

Aw, that's too bad! I used to sprain my ankle on a regular basis--no fun at all!

This may sound a little different, but do you ever see a chiropractor? Some of my lack of grace I blame on my back being out of whack. When your back needs adjusting it throws your balance off a bit. Since I've been going--usually 2 or 3 times a year--I haven't been hurting myself as bad. If you don't believe they do any good, that's fine, I just feel they've helped me.

You can do weights sitting down. I've been doing some weight training for a month to six weeks and I can really tell a difference in muscle definition. Firm, not flabby is a good thing to me! I think the weights have helped my weight loss, too.

Good luck and I hope you get your foot and ankle feeling better soon!

I lift weights and I'm not bulky!!

Stairmasters use heels less than some other things, spinning wouldn't put any weight on it (ifyou have that option at your gym), regular bikes probably wouldn't put that much either though, water aerobics... and of course the weight training, but I thought you were looking for more cardio.. there are some pilates classes and yoga classes (vinyasa for example) where you'll work up a sweat while you're going through it.
