Yup I did it, I did it, I ran my very first 5 km run actually if you wanna be technical it was 5.05 km yay. I am so freaken proud of myself considering I have really only been back running now for 2 months I am really impressed with my progress. YAY. for me I am kicking A$$ baby and another pound down I couldn't as for more. I jogged for 45 minutes to do that 5 kms but I did it and that's all that matters.

      Monday 3.16 miles = 5.05 kms yay

I am A running machine now.

            Holy Marathon, Batman...8 miles! 5 k!!!

I did my 3(ish) k this morning and had to drag my leaden butt each and every step of the way!!

The good thing was that this morning I weighed myself and I broke through to the 140's!!! 149!! So I was chanting "One forty nine! One forty nine!" when I got weary on the trail..lol
I've been hovering around 155/4/3/2 for literally months now, so I'm not holding my breath, but for right now, I'm tickled!!
I didn't do as long a warmup walk today, so technically I ran farther than I usually do, and I have to keep telling myself that no matter how much I grumble during the run, I feel so fantastic afterwards that it's all worth it.

I never realized how stubborn I can be... :guns

Crazy super windy blustery morning so I was treated to wind blasts in the face, and invisible hands pushing me in the back, and watching the trees and the surf thrash around..very invigorating!

All the best to you guys today!!!

              Tuesday 4-5-05

              10513 steps
10448 aerobic steps for 87 min.
              641 calories
              5.14 miles (yeah! :joy )

I'm pretty happy with today. I walked farther and did it faster than last week. I felt good while walking today but I realized that I need a pair of better shoes.

Have a great day everyone! :wave

What a heel I feel like well I was running up the stairs with my damn slippers on and I fell and I think I slightly twisted my knee. It doesn't hurt to walk or anything just if I turn. DAMN IT I am mad I'm sure it will be fine I have a running day off today and I will be doing weight supposed to be legs but, I am going to do my abs and shoulders instead so that I make sure I don't hurt myself. GRRRR!!

Take care and don't fall up the stairs LOL

HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girlie, I am sooooooooooooooooooo proud of you!! You've worked hard and look at the results!! :yes KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Wonderful job, Piasabird!! AWESOME!! YOU ROCK!! Keep it up!!

Sarah ... :hug for the knee....take it easy ... ice it and rest it ... do the typical RICE therapy: REST, ICE, COMPRESSION, ELEVATION... that should do wonders. If you have pain when running, then STOP and let yourself heal!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN WITH A PAINFUL KNEE ... that will only prolong your misery and you don't want that. Take some ibuprofen for the inflammation too ..

Speaking of inflammation .. I have a big toe that has blood under the nail .. the left foot ... the right one is FINE .. any ideas of what to do? The pressure under the nail is horrendous as the blood continues to pool ... I've heard you can make a hole with a sterilized pin ... but that thought sends me into nightmares ... and I refuse to stop running ... so ... what to do??

                  Any ideas/hints welcome!

Keep up the great work everyone! Esther, hurry back, we miss you here!

WOW BETTY that hs to hurt the blood under the toe. The thought of puncturing with a pin is EEEEK I would possibly try some ice to stop that baby from swelling no heat for you also I have read that if you apply a compression bandage like tape it will help it to quit bleeding so that your body can reabsorb the blood. I sure hope it feels better. It's worth a try.

                    Take care.

Rest day for me...but not really!!
We are going away on Fri and Sat, and we have a friend coming over to cat-sit for us, so I have to clean this trash heap of an apartment...lol so that will be exercise in itself. We're going away to see CATS, so I'll put the sound track on and clean to that. :joy

Instead of mon/wed/fri, I ran sun/tues/and I'll run thurs, so I get my 3 in, and then we'll be doing a whackload of walking, and maybe even some bicycle riding this weekend, so I'll be fairly active.

This last sunday I actually got two workouts! I ran in the morning, and then that afternoon I went walking around a place called Ft. Rodd Hill, which is an old military base that was used in WW2...gorgeous setting at the entrance to the harbour. I had my Harley biking boots on and those suckers are heaaaaaavy, so I lugged those all hither and yon. Hmm..no wonder my legs were tired on tuesday, now that I think of it...!!!

Betty I sure hope your toe feels better. I am starting my TOM and I am so freaken tired it's not even funny I feel like death warmed over me LOL. I am hoping I will perk up here in the next day or so I always hate this time but, I still work through it.

I was bad yesterday I admit it I didn't do my weights and I feel absoulutely like crap about it. I will do it today cause I really want to. Yesterday I really don't know what happened but, there is no excuse I know that I will get to it today hopefully get the weights done early and I can Jog later on.

I'm a tad bit sore from yesterday. I thought about mixing things up some and bike riding today but it looks like rain heading this way. So, I'm choosing to make this a rest day to recooperate.

It's suppose to rain tomorrow also, but maybe I'll walk inside on my lunch hour tonight.

I hope everyone has a good day! :wave

Betty, our roommate is a marathon runner and he has dealt with toenail problems all the time. When you get blood under the nail, you need to pierce it with a sterilized pin and let it drain. I understand it doesn't hurt. In fact, you don't feel much, since the nail is just dead skin.

If you can't bring yourself to do that, maybe make a quick visit to your family doctor and let them do it. You don't want to let it go.

This thread is very motivating. I'm not a runner, never have been but I do like to walk in the 5Ks. When my foot is fixed I plan on doing them more often!
