Figured out what is going on with me my throat is a bit sore. HELLO TRIGGER. I have to take my puffer and I am feeling lagged cause I am on the verge of another asthma episode. I am taking my puffer but, my chest is somewhat tight. I'll recognise it one of these days and be ontop of this thing I hate having asthma. It has been really dusty and dry and I was outside all day yesterday I felt kinda off but, was not sure why. My energy is lacking. My body is basically telling me to slow down for a couple days I don't wanna end up sick like last time this is how it started. So I think I am taking today off running I don't wanna compromise my progress. I am going into Red Deer tomorrow and I am picking up Glutamine and also a BCAA suplimnet which is supposed to help with exercise induced sickness. I have been reading a lot and when you exercise intensely your immune system shuts down for a short while leaving you suseptable to chest infections which I have had. Well I am sick of getting sick so I am taking these suppliments and hopefully they will help.

    Take care.

I got in 2 miles in 30 minutes. I wanted to go further but my foot was really hurting me. I got home and iced it but it's not feeling better. I may have to figure out something else till this gets a bit better.

Sarah, you take care of yourself.

Hon, have you ever taken elderberry extract? Its available at natural food/vitamin stores .. I swear by it to keep from getting sick. Its available in capsule or liquid form .. choose the capsules if you can find them. Take 2 at the first sign of any bug ... it will zap it.

Rest up hon, and don't overdo exercise until you're feeling alot better. Many hugs! :hug

Susan, great job! You were very wise to stop when your foot was bothering you! Pain is the only way our bodies can tell us when we've overdone it....What are you doing for the pain?? And what kind of pain is it??

YOU GUYS TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES!! :hug

For the pain I iced it last night. Seemed take the majority of the sharp intense pain away. The pain is on the outside of my foot. I ony feel it when I am actually bearing weight on it. I can massage it and feel nothing. Anyway I guess the only way to describe the pain is it feels like an internal bruise. But after my two mile walk it felt waay worse than a bruise. I think I need to get new shoes. I love my Filas but today putting on a pair of boots for work I found that there is no pain. Still pain barefoot but not in the boots. I found that odd. Anywho, hubby says maybe we can head to the boulder running company and get some good shoes.

Susan, do you know approximately how many miles you have on your old shoes?

300 is my maximum and I keep track ever since I had a bout with runner's knee in the beginning cuz I was running on old shoes ...(although they weren't OLD, they were worn out and the cushioning was gone).

I hope getting new shoes will resolve the problem! Please take care and let us know how you're doing!!

Susan..could this be a small stress fracture? Have you asked your doctor about it?

Did my route on this very windy blustery morning and had a few muscle issues. My right calf was threatening to cramp but that went away. I have a muscle up near my groin on the left and I'm not quite finding the right stretch for it. I found that if I did the quad stretch where you stand, and hold your ankle in your hand behind you and push your hips forward slightly that seems to get it some, but I just feel that if I could adequately stretch it, it'd behave.
But it's a minor thing really and didn't cause me much trouble today at all.

TOM was there with me today still and I felt a bit draggy, but I talk to myself a LOT and I never compromise my distance.
There's a very short part of my route that takes me up a little dirt path that's shielded from any of the buildings by trees and bushes, so I tried spitting again. I'm not very good at it still.

64oz, you need to give us lessons!! lol

It's possible. I have thought of it. The pain does feel as though it is in the bone. I haven't seen the doctor because the pain just started Thursday morning and it was just achy until I did my walk. I think I will try to see how the weekend pans out and then go see doc if it doesn't get better. For now cardio without feet, sounds like swimming for me.

Ran 4.6 miles this morning --- 34 degrees, 14.7mph wind from NE, 47 degrees when I returned.

Yesterday was a strength work-out for me. I don't feel like I have a work-out when I do that so I must be doing something wrong.

Spring is here in DE, late this year --- the flowers are out, trees in bloom --- it is now up to 50 degrees and should reach 70 today according to the weather man. Really beautiful day with the sun shinning, birds gathering sticks for their nests, and just the typical strong wind that flows between the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays.

We have a nordic trak gold weight machine. DH bought it many years ago with the great intention of using it. ':no' he just never does. I don't care for it--- plus we don't have all the directions for it and I'm a gotta-have-those-directions-gal, kwim? Plus, in order to get resistance you have to *slam* or move really quickly the lift bar, and sometimes I can get a measurement on what I'm lifting or pulling and sometimes not. We have one guide book of the different exercises--leg lifts, and such ----but I'm just starting so it is slow going too, with me constantly looking at the book and asking---now, how does the tension rope run this time? and does the bar lean up or down, is it a pull or a push? I've checked books out from the library but I haven't found *the strength* workout, explained in simple terms for me yet. Guess that's why I like running, you just GO DO IT.

Oh boy, I can relate .. I have difficulty with anything too complicated WITH directions, let alone without ...

Give me an exercise ball and a few dumbbells and I can handle that!!

And yes, I agree, running is great ... all you have to do is don the running shoes & head out the door!

                              Enjoy your warming weather!

Put me down for 10 big ones this afternoon ... its a gorgeous running day here and I couldn't help myself! I ran slow and took my water bottle with me to make sure I stayed hydrated ... Finished in 2 hrs 15 minutes roughly ... (told ya I was slow!) But what's the saying? "The race goes not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running..." Comforting words for a mid-life runner like me!! :nod

I stayed in my target heart rate zone the entire run and ended up burning 883 calories. Not a bad day's work! 32.2 MILES THIS WEEK! WOOHOO!

Okay, gotta get my eat on ...

                                HAPPY RUNNING TRAILS EVERYONE!!
