foot fungus......... i got it.......

i have that horrible toenail fungus. you know, digger the demadaphyte? he has been with me long enough now that i have put him the will.

in the past week or so i have had these little pussy bumps break out on the top of my foot. same foot as where digger lives. has anybody experienced this before?

i have been using creams and washing and drying my foot good. i do NOT want to take that lamisil stuff. i would rather have digger go to the grave with me as to take a chance on liver damage.

so if you have/have had this, what did you do? is there something you soaked your foot in that helped? did you use a certain type of antifungal cream that worked well? i have to get rid of these bumps. it's horrible looking!

I did have something like that before JJ. You need to get to a doctor and get a RX for it. If it gets infected you are going to have BIG problems, trust me. I put it off too long and was in bad shape!

I've had a friend who had success with tree tea oil that you can buy at Wal-Mart OTC in the pharmacy area. (Has a strong smell -- I think they call this Melaluca and it is from "Down Under"...related to eucalyptus.)


I hope it clears up soon because I know it must be a pain!!

kkat! thank you for that! i went to GNC today and the girl there tried to see me some tea tree oil. it was pretty expensive so i will look for it at walmart. i have a little bit of a gel type tea tree stuff. the container is downstairs so i don't know exactly the name of it. does it have a shelf life? hmmmmmm i must look to see. i soaked my foot tonight in vinegar. (saw that on a website) then i put some of the tea tree stuff on . i put some medicated foot powder on too, cause these pussy bumps are seeping. this is yucky and gross! bleck!

i have to go to the store on monday so i will check for the tea tree oil then.

it isn't so much that anything hurts. it itches sometimes but that comes and goes. the "pain" of it that it just is plain unattractive! the toenails aren't bad bad. the bumps actually look much worse.

this is horrible to talk about. gives me the creeps!

kat, did you friend have the option of taking lamasil? did this friend see a doctor or just did their home remedy?

I'm not sure what vinegar does, but I know once when I was a teenager and had some really bad sunburn my Mom put the vinegar on it and it seemed to soothe it. Right now I have poison ivy on both my legs (from the dog) and a someone recommended vinegar for it (I'm still using Benedryl, had a shot of Kenalog and now taking some steriod that starts out like Metho....)

One of my neighbors was selling those Melaluca products many years ago and one of my other neighbors had the toe fungus and she told her that it was good for stuff like that (I don't think Lamisil was out yet). So, the other neighbor tried it and said that it cleared up within a few days. Later I read articles talking about tea tree oil being good for stuff like that and ringworm, etc. Several years back me and my DH were wiping it lightly across our faces in the evening, but now I can't remember why.

Anyway, the bottles of it were very expensive from that company, but later DH and I found it at WM for about $3!!! I couldn't believe how low the price was!!

anyway, the bottle i saw at GNC was $10 for this little bottle. lets hope wm has a better deal.

vinegar is so versatile. i have a list somewhere around here that tells all the uses of vinegar. if we could run our cars on it, we'd have it made! lol

thanks again for the info. i'll post how the rememdy goes. i saw an article that said nearly hald the population has this toe nail fungus. that's alot of diggers running around!

barbiebabe, don't holler at me too badly. give me a week of soaking and doctoring and if it isn't better, i'll go to a walk in clinic and see if they can do something about the bumps. i do not have the cash to have a liver test and all that it involves and that is what they will do to get me on lamisil. i just don't have the money. i do believe the two things are unrelated. i have had the bumps before and doctoring made them go away.

i will say that after soaking last night, some of the redness was gone this morning. some "drying" happened overnight. i slept with the window unit on and my feet did not sweat as they have been doing.

Tea Tree has won a reputation as a 'cure all' because of its powerful anti fungal, anti viral and antibacterial properties. It is the first suggestion for athlete's foot, nail viruses and other fungal infections.

Often used in anti acne remedies, as well as in diffuser to combat the flu and other viral infections. It is often recommended as the remedy for a vaginal candida infection. Please note that recent laboratory tests indicate that Tea Tree Essential Oil is more effective as an antibacterial agent in weak dilutions (ie, less than 2%) than it is neat. I know there are those who recommend using Tea Tree neat, or at least say that it may safely be used neat, however in my experience it is far too harsh to use neat on the skin, and since it is more effective in a weak dilution, why use more than needed.

Hey JimmieJo, $10 bucks seems expensive for less than an ounce of this stuff, but you'll only need a drop or two for each application. I'd give this a try before I'd mess with the liver damaging Rx stuff, but...have you been officially diagnosed by a doc? I'd hate for you to self medicate before getting the docs input.

Unfiltered apple cider vinegar from the health food store might be of use to you, but the regular stuff at the grocery store, I wouldn't count on. Let me see if I can find you an article or something.
