  • Stomach Pain - Post Gallbladder

I had my gallbladder taken out on Sept. 19. After, the doctor told me I could resume eating whatever I want as long as it didn't give me digestive problems. As I've never in my life had digestive problems he said I should never have a worry but if I do to just not eat that food anymore. I had no problems since.

I started Atkinsing about 3-4 weeks ago. In the past week I've been getting a stomach ache whenever I eat red meat(which is everyday for lunch). I didn't really notice I'd been eating so much red until I posted my menu. I've read the other threads on gallbladder removals and didn't see anyone with similar problems. Do you think it's because I eat red meat EVERYDAY? Perhaps I should lay off red & eat more chicken?

The pain is nothing like a gallbladder attack(THANK GOD!) it's just an uncomfortable tummy ache & it makes my tummy feel kind of bloated but not in a gassy way just an achy way. Does that make sense? lol Any ideas?

    Danke, ARU

**Wanted to add - I know it takes about 2 days for red meat to digest so maybe my tummy is just so full of red meat since I eat it everyday?

it sounds as though you have your own theory and came to some conclusions. try cutting back on the meat and see if that helps, just like you said. you might also ask your doctor about this.
i am no professional about this but will see if i can get someone more knowledgable to answer you.

You might want to consult your doctor about this. It could be a post surgical problem or it could be nothing at all.

Ditto what Megs and Jimmie said. Try reducing the meat and talk to your doctor. Hope you get the problem sorted out soon and feel better.

          Follow what the above recommend

I have found that my taste for red meat has decreased alot since having my gall bladder out. I never really noticed any digestive issues with it, but when I go to eat it nowadays, my body doesnt' care for the taste as much, as if it's telling me that it no longer really wants it. I used to eat alot of steak too.

I eat mostly chicken and some fish nowadays with red meat rarely (usually roast beef or hamburger).

I have noticed that bacon/sausage cause me stomach pain however similar to a gall bladder attack.

It can't hurt to check with your doctor just to make sure.

Re: Stomach Pain - Post Gallbladder

Thanks for the comments. I cut the red meat out to see what would happen & my tummy ache immediately cleared up. I've just been eating chicken & turkey and had no problems.

The three pound weight gain is gone too. I think I was just eating to much & with the long digestion time on red meat it was just keeping me full.

Yeah I guess I did have my own theory. I just wanted to know if it made sense to anyone else.
