  • Feeling cold

The last few days I have felt constantly cold, despite eating very well, normally I would sip a nice ginger, honey and lemon tea.

I was wondering if I am heading towards a nasty winter coldor flu.

    Any other suggestions?

    Re: Feeling cold

supplement with some vitamin c or some echinecea. any vitamin/herb that helps support/boost your immune system. you still may get a cold but it shouldn't last as long or be as severe, that has been my experience.

water and chicken broth are good too.

        Re: Feeling cold

Judy I know what you mean, my hands have been freezing the last week. I don't know if it's the change in my body (restarted induction after a month and half hiatus) and/or lack of caffiene and addition of so much water....everyone in my office thought I was crazy and then they touched my hands...yikes...ice cold! Brr..........bring on spring!

That is it exactly! Feet as well...ekkk.

I love the D.H.Lawrence quote, you don't see it around much, but last time I heard it was in G.I.Jane, and what a fab body Demi achieved for that part!

Yes here it is another day, I'm working at my computer, my hands are ice cold!!

Thank you for the compliment - (My DH Lawrence quote) it's to keep me focused - no excuses!

Thanks again, stay warm. I think there is ice hanging from my computer screen.

Avgolemono is a Greek chicken lemon rice soup, thickened with eggs. You could skip the rice and add veggies. I bet it would be good.

                    Hello,

Have you had this long? If someone were persistently cold it might be worth considering if you have any other symptoms of hypothyroidism. It's probably not that (I hope not) but worth a thought. If you feel sluggish, lethargic, weight gain, etc then perhaps see a dr.

I just mention it because my first symptoms was being freezing all the time, and still find it hard to get warm now.

Nice warming sounding soup Miss Phode! Tks. Maybe one could do it with faux rice (shredded cauliflower) added at the last minute so it doesn't overcook.

                        Re: Feeling cold

Wow never thought it might be serious....
I increased my fat intake by drinking a tablespoon of olive oil last night. No cold hands today, but they are very heat/cold sensitive at the moment...must be the crazy weather!

I'll check out that soup recipe and exchange the riz for whizzed celeriac or leeks. I don't like faux tatoes at all...yuck. Rather eat roasted or mashed Neeps.

Scooter, have your hands improved since the computer icicle?

                        Cheers all,

Neeps...aren't those those bad little sugar marshmallows at Easter

Sorry I know peeps. haha I couldn't help it. Sometimes I amuse myself easily.

Judy, actually this afternoon was much better, but I had a bigger lunch, salad (spinach), with tuna salad on some thin slices of provolone...yummy!

Maybe that was it after all, a little higher Fat lunch....hmm...I'll have to see tomorrow.

                              Re: Feeling cold

Neeps = scottish turnip = english swede = french/american rutabaga. Cook and mash with butter, salt and pepper, or cut into dice size cubes dredge with olive oil, italian herbs, juice of 1/2 lemon, salt and pepper, then roast.

These are eaten this way in Scotland, not as a replacement for potatoes. On Burns night the neeps are mashed with potatoes. Neeps n Tatties!

Scooter I'm definitely feeling better now, another idea is to liberally pour olive oil 1 tbsp on your salad. Of course if you have made homemade mayonnaise or vinegrette, you just up the portion size.
