  • Tummy Tucks?

I have no idea where to place this thread in the whole site. I guess here?

Okay I was curious who if anyone is planning on getting a tummy tuck after they hit goal or re-constructive due to large amounts of skin.

I have had four kids. Blessing is each! But, the sag I have is really bad to the point I have tears on each side of my belly sometimes in the folds of my skin (gross huh?) from when I exercise and it just jiggles away!

So, with that said. I want to have a body lift or tummy tuck (full in my case). I read about it last night and they want you to be at goal weight before they look at your body to choose what to do.

Anyone else planning on this? or even had the thought pass?

I saw someone with a car as their goal weight reward, this is a fraction of the cost of that....

I looked into Doctors. I found the one I think. He is double cerified and has a huge list of credits to his name. I like his belly buttons too!

Oh my! You do know him well! Does he have more than one then? (j/k).

I'm all for that kind of "goal" reward if it makes you feel better about yourself. Go for it!

I had a complete hysterectomy two years ago and since I'd lost 100 pounds at the time, I got a tummy tuck with the procedure. I'm very happy with it.

          Re: Tummy Tucks?

I am planning on having one. My skin down there is so messed up and it tears easily, just like you said. The stretch marks are so large and the skin is so thin it doesn't take much to cause a small rip and man do they hurt!!

My mother in law is good friends with a plastic surgeon and his family. He has done her breasts, lips, nose, and tummy tuck. Otherwise, I would be terrified. I have to wait and see the sag on my thighs, etc. to decide if I just want a tummy tuck or a body lift. I will also get a breast lift too. Actually, that is what I would get first. I am an F cup and they just look so sad all the time. I have always been large breasted and I would love to have some of the weight lifted off of my shoulders.

          **Edit**

I just wanted to add that I would wait at least a year after you hit goal before considering it. Your body is going to go through a lot of changes. I would hope I wouldn't need one but it is an option I am open to.

I am right there with ya. I have had 4 kids and gain fat in my belly more than anywhere else. I just made a journal post about my flap of flab on my belly. Makes me look pregnant no matter what size I am. I have to lift it to see my , uh...hoo-ha, lol.

I tried on a pair of pants last night that went on so smooth, plenty of room in the butt and hips and legs but...nope, coulnt even get the button to meet the whole over my belly. My stomache makes me where pants that are 2-3 sizes larger than what I need. same with shirts. I am so dis=preportioned that I can only guess its a must. Even when I was a size 2, before having kids I had a jelly belly.

I will wait a yr after my long term goal then go for it. I have a while I guess to figure out how to pay for it.

Where are these awesome plastic surgeons you guys know, anyone know any or can recommend any in the chicago area?

The Doctor I mention is a member of the american society of asthetic plastic surgery and american society of plastic surgeons.

and his site reads.... (***took out his name b/c I am yet to have a personal experience to share and I am not advertising anyone)
"Dr. ----- is a board certified Plastic Surgeon and a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He was trained at Baylor-Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. He trained with the inventor of the breast implant as well as the inventor of the artificial heart Dr. Michael Debakey. Dr. ---- holds two international patents for ------ â„¢, a dermal filler for facial wrinkles. Dr. ----- speaks at national and international Plastic Surgery meetings and trains other Plastic Surgeons on new procedures. He has seen more than 30,000 patients in private practice. In 2002 Dr. ----- was part of a medical team nominated for the Nobel Peace prize fro his volunteer Plastic Surgery work in Central America. Celebrities in the entertainment and sports industry wanting to look their best seek out the Plastic Surgery expertise and artistry that has established Dr. ------ international reputation".

I liked his photos, the belly button has to be remade and pulled through! (gross) so the more natural the better. I have seen some weird belly buttons in the photos, you begin to know good work the more you look at sites. But, if the credentials do not look good and the photos do. I just go to the next site... like one woman was highly trained in skin cancer out of Miami. That was her main resume... yet she does do tummy tucks too... nose jobs so on... a list of 30 things...

Cooter: I am with you too! I just say search and make sure they know their stuff. Do not settle on the first person you find.

Jen: I am saving as well. ugh.... I read up to 8,500 for top Doctors.

Porcelain: I thought I was going crazy! so other people tear there too! I had a burning sensation on my "fold" lack of better term... on the belly... yep.. My skin is paper thin...

dream: glad to hear it worked out well for you!

emma: okay ty will search her out! for sure

sally: oh naughty me his belly button was soooo cute! hahaa

There is this lady in florida that does the best looking non-implant breast lifts I have ever seen. She uses some lower pole fat and moves it to the upper pole to give the breasts a more youthful, rounded appearance. I don't want implants at all. I have plenty of tissue for them to use. I just hate it is 2000 miles away!!!

I plan on doing it but only after I have another child. I've had 5 stomach surgeries (one being a C-section). I have no tone there whatsoever and the way it hangs is disgusting.

I send you baby dust when you need it I understand not wanting to have one until your done with family (pregnancy wise). I have never "gone under" so, that scares me more than the actual cutting!

Yes, weird how we find the one we want and they are out of state. I did not want to tempt myself. I only looked at Doctors in my state. I had been told (think my Mom) that a loop hole lets anyone with a license to practice plastic surgery.... that was years ago I heard this about Florida. I hope that it was a misunderstanding or that it is not true. This is why I am so darn cautious of who I am choosing to do it. Plus, I will make sure that it is not another Doctor, I pay who I want to have it done by! like I told Cat, I never been under general.....

Now as far as my chest area is concerned I am a shrinking C cup... looked at them today, think lost my restart weight in that area only LOL

                          Re: Tummy Tucks?

It has something to do with the difference between plastic surgery and costmetic surgery. Plastic surgeons have to be board certified in plastic surgery and do a residency on that. Most people confuse plastic surgery with cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery being just a fraction of what encompases plastic surgery. I think some general surgeons can do cosmetic surgery. Just like some states allow dentists to do liposuction. I don't want a general surgeon to take a one week seminar on tummy tucks and think he can do mine. One lucky thing (well, it isn't really luck, it is sad) there are so many people having to get their stomach stapled and stuff that they are losing weight so fast there are many surgeons and institutions that are devoting themselves to just these types of surgeries so their skills are practiced and refined.

Thankyou for clearing this up for me. I know the more educated you are the better chance you have at a good outcome and to be happy with it the first time. I heard most "good" Doctors re-do flub ups other "take a course and cut you up Doctors" did wrong the first time.

Totally agree now with lap bands, and gastric bypass is opening up that need for removal of the obvious excess skin that is left from morbid obesity (I hate to use that term, but that is what they call it).

Hi Bambina! I really wanted a nose job when I was a kid, they called me piggy nose (one kid). But, guess with age and the thinning of your face as you age. The nose suits me I guess better older? lol

I have the rings on my neck from my obesity, losing/gain pregancy. I am not sure they can do anything for the creases? technical term for them???? Now, the only lypo I will have is in the area of the belly for now, I want to see how much exercise and atkins takes off me first.

I have the lower belly flab. I'm hoping *crossing fingers* that because of my age the skin will snap back. So far you can tell that I've lost fat there because the pouch looks a little more empty. It's not pretty, but it could be worse.
Unless it gets really really bad, I don't plan on having a tummy tuck. We'll see how my body reacts to having kids. I would, however, like to have a breast lift when I'm done losing weight. I don't care if I go down to a B cup, I just want the girls perky with no implants. If you get implants then you have to replace them if there's a leak, etc. It's far too complicated.
