Still smoke free here too. Laker, I'm sorry you had a rough day...but you stayed strong and I'm PROUD of you for that!!!

H2Ohhh, Congrats on one week. It does seem to get easier. I don't find myself wanting them as often...and when I do, I just tell myself "No" and the urge passes. LOL How silly that I haven't quit before this.

I guess it all really is in our minds, huh??

My appetite is back under control, THANK GOODNESS.

        Strawberry Whipped Cream Crepes

        Recipe By :
        Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time 00
        Categories : Bakery
        Breakfast Low Carb 0-5

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
        -------- ------------ --------------------------------
        Crepes:
        2 eggs
        1/3 cup heavy cream
        1/3 cup water
        2 tablespoons butter -- melted
        1/4 teaspoon salt
        1 tablespoon splenda -- 1 drop stevia
3 tablespoons soy protein isolate--(I USE VANILLA WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE)
        Cream:
        1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla -- to taste
        1 tablespoon splenda -- 1/2 drop stevia
        1 1/2 cups strawberries -- sliced

To make cream: beat cream until stiff, add vanilla and Stevia to taste. To make crepes: whisk together eggs, cream, water, butter, salt, and Stevia until well-mixed. Add protein powder and whisk until smooth. Heat frying pan to medium hot, melt a little butter in pan, and pour in 1/6 of crepe batter, tilting pan this way and that so that batter spreads out. Cook until top is dry and full of air holes, then turn and cook briefly on second side.
Remove to plate and set aside while cooking remaining crepes.

To assemble: Place crepe on plate with good side down. Spread with cream. Top with 1/4 cup strawberries, and fold top of crepe over cream and strawberries. Top crepe with dollop of whipped cream and slice of strawberry.

Yummy! Thanks for the crepe recipe.

It's definitely easier now. I'm starting to realize just how inconvenient it was to be a smoker. Not only is quitting easier, I'm realizing life is easier!

Hope y'all have a great weekend.

            Re: New Non-Smokers Thread -

I bought the book "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking" for my hubby on Amazon! It came in the mail on Saturday and my husband started reading it immediately and read it all day Sunday (while chain-smoking as he said the book recommends). He finished reading it Sunday night. Monday he told me he was smoking his last one! I can't believe it! Woooo!

This is the man that said he loved them so much that if he couldn't smoke them he'd eat them! He said that his mother smoked while pregnant and he was born wanting a cigarette!

This Allen Carr is GREAT! My hubby said that I quit the hard way and that he was not going to have as hard of a time with it because he isn't brainwashed anymore. He said I really need to read the book myself (even though I'm quit for almost 2 years) and also mentioned that Allen Carr has a lose weight book too. (Now WHAT did he mean by that?)

Ever see the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" where the guy is shown how he changed people's lives just by being himself... well, Brook and Joy etc. You guys are GREAT and have made my life and my husband's life so much better! Thank you!

Sadie, that's awesome! I haven't read Allen Carr's book, but I just may have to go get it. I'm into reading those types of books these days. Just got done reading Body for Life and "If How-To's Were Enough, We'd All be Skinny, Rich, and Happy" and am in the middle of two "When Good Intentions Run Smack Into Reality" and "Rich Dad, Poor Dad".

Wheeee that's a lot of reading...but why not one more LOL Since I'm not smoking, I've gotta have SOMETHING to do right? LOL

Anyway, I love "Its a Wonderful Life" Sadie...and ya know..it is a wonderful life, when we decide to make it so, isn't it??

              ((((((((Hugs)))))))) To you guys!

Hey gang! I'm still not smoking! YAY! It's a month today, holy moly!

I am still battling to get the weight I gained back off. I'll lose it then gain it back overnight. Which, of course, means it's water. However, one pair of my size 12 shorts is too snug for comfort. *siiiiigh*

I am still having cravings. I will move back to induction and get into ketosis and then move back up into OWL and then the cravings come back. I'm in a vicious cycle with caffeine I think, too.

There is NO WAY I'm back sliding with the cigarettes....but I wanted to put my struggles out here for everyone to see...maybe someone can offer some ideas...or just a shoulder to cry on LOL

You guys are doing so good. I know that what this board needs is yet another logo, but someone should design a " ADBB who also quit Smoking button" like the cheat free ones. I am proud of all of you. Quitting was the hardest thing I ever did, but I did it after 30 years and it was in the 80ies when I took the plunge.

give up the caffine as it is messing with your insulin levels which messes with your blood sugar stability. yep you will tank energywise for a few days but you can do it afterall you made it through induction and then the addiction to cigarettes. clean it all up don't sub one addiction for another. when you need something like a caffeine drink or a ciggy go bang some barbells together the adreniline rush from the exercise should quite all of those cravings

That's a good idea 2big, but I work in a shared office space and I don't think it'd go over too well at work. But you are so right...I've got to "Clean it all up".

But, I've got my water bottle here and drinking that now.

Wow, we're in the exact same situation! I'm also back on induction trying to regain control. I gained five pounds after quitting -- and I swear I wasn't eating any differently! -- so of course I got mad and gave into cravings. Next thing you know I'm up 8 pounds from my lowest weight. So I can't really offer any ideas ... but I'm here for the cryin'!

We'll get through this little bump, weight-wise. It's just a short-term thing and quitting smoking is good for the long term.

                            H2Ohhh,

I'm back to induction today to get this all cleaned up and back on track. I said in another thread how glad I am that I quit smoking....and it's true. So, I'm applying those same principles I used for quitting carbs, and then quitting nicotine today to quit the caffeine AGAIN! By quitting the caffeine (which I use tea and coffee as the delivery system) then I'll also cut down on my sweetner considerably. I hope that helps.

                              Re: New Non-Smokers Thread -

I need some advice. Today is day one not smoking, and it's not going so well.

I need something to do with my mouth, and I need some form of nicotine patch/gum.

I went to the store, and looked up online, and the gum has 1 carb per piece!
If I chew that stuff, that's at LEAST 12 carbs of my induction allowance per day! I also have committed to avoiding sweeteners.

I'm going to make a trade off, and I want your opinions!

I bought some Orbit sugar free gum, 1 carb per piece. Now, that would be just as bad, but I can chew a regular piece of gum for an entire day, lol. So, if I get the patches (which I bought), do you think it would be okay to chew a piece of that gum even though it has sweetener in it, since I can get away with only 1 or 2 pieces/carbs of that instead of using over half my carbs just on the nicotine gum? I simply have to have something to put in my mouth to keep it busy if I'm going to quit AND stay strong and not totally give into the munchies that attack me when I try to quit smoking.

                              What do you think?

If you can make it 72 hours without the patches, you'll pretty much be detoxed Jassy babe! Chew the gum until then to get you through. The cranberry extract costs a whole heck of a lot less than the patches.

Drink water, every time you want a puff. Water. Take a brisk walk. Do something.

72 hours Jas. Just do 72 hours.
