  • Addicted to Junk Food

I've been examining my addiction to junk food.

Candy, chocolate, burgers, pizza, pasta, bread etc etc.

It really is a physical compulsion at times, that I have to fight mentally!

And it's sanctioned by our society! People say it's not addiction!

I know that some addictions are worse, but is any addiction any less addictive mentally?

I get physical and mental withdrawals from this stuff.

It seems, the more refined the carbs, the more I am addicted.

Why I give myself permission to 'indulge', I just got to town. I can eat a lot of junk food, and it just fuels more and more desire for it.

I guess there is a drugged up feeling after endulging.

I know this stuff is killing me! But when you are depressed, down come your walls!

I am glad to be free of junk food for two days!

Great revelation, Dave. Congrats on 2 days being free! I know you're probably shouting, "Free at last...Free at last..."

Great on 2 cheat free days. I don't care what anyone says. Food (junk) is just as addictive as hard core drugs. I think we have the same mental issues as a drug addict and tend to let it get the better of us sometimes. Glad you recognize it Dave!

        Thanks guys.

I've been reflecting a lot about culture and society today.

I feel there is something wrong. It's not overtly wrong, but there is a dsyfunction out there in how we run society.

Society is run around machines. Machines are there for capitalists.

But we are humans, not machines, so we are humans trying to work at the machine pace.

But yet we are passive. We are sedentry, we sit and watch our entertainment.

        BOOM! Obesity explosion.

So many people have these problems of compulsions and depression.

I wonder how much can be improved by changing the way society works? Changing how we live?

I'm willing to learn more! LOL

          Re: Addicted to Junk Food

          Hey guys,

I just had a compulsive thought.

I checked out the latest movies, and junk food popped into my head. So I thought I would come here and admit it.

See I cna go to the local movies by myself, and that way I can sit in the dark, I can devour a packet of maltesers, ice cream and coke by myself.

After cruising the food court for high carbs treats.

          GAH!

I'm ashamed to say that I did give in, and it continued through last friday.

I'm back on track now, but very aware of the addiction and it's hold over me.

Grant---it's baby steps working with stress, emotional, and old habits. Hang tough and regain your focus! I know you can do it since you realized what the addiction is

Angel---sweets, it's not grief that folks on the board are offering when you post your request to check your menu, it's constructive criticism or praise to everyone who needs the help. And eating veggies IS the ESSENTIAL to following the Aktins way of eating for a number of reasons listed in the book. Please continue to post your menus, continue eating veggies, and see how you can easily change your eating habits into even more changes in your weight and health. Cheers!
