  • Too much thyroid meds/heart palpitations

I was put on a holter monitor last week because I was having heart palpitations all the time, and they were driving me nuts. I had oral surgery the past couple weeks and I chalked the palps up to anxiety about the surgery, taking antibiotics, etc.

Well, the holter showed I had about 40 PVCs in one day (not dangerous or anything, just that they were there) so Dr. was wondering when my last thyroid check was. It was only a few months ago but she decided to run them again. My TSH was .079 now, which is lower than it should be (.540-5.700). She said this might be why the palpitations are more numerous. We cut the armour back from 135 mg to 120 and we'll retest again in a few weeks.

I'm glad the palpitations were nothing serious, but seriously, you'd think if I was lower my weight should have rolled off this summer instead of my nice 1-2 pounds a week (if that!). I wonder how long it will take for the palpitations to lessen? I hope not another 2-3 weeks LOL.

Have you had this happen before? I've read about it, but usually my TSH is too high, not low. I have to honestly say I prefer the lethargy to palpitations. They make me worry about heart attacks even though I know PVCs are not dangerous.

I had Graves when I was younger, I remember being rushed to the hospital because the palpitations got a little out of hand and my pusle was way too fast. I seem to remember being splotchy at the time too...

I've actually had both (after a couple of years of meds, the end fix for my Graves was iodine radiation therapy - the amount wasn't right for me and I went under-active the next year) and I think I'd disagree.

Ok, so when your system is totally revved up because everything is going to so fast, you can still eat anything and everything. Ok, so you may actually feel larthargic because you are worn out, but thats ok, just hand me another Mars bar.

Hang on.... that is what got me into this mess when things turned around, I still wanted to keep eating ..... everything...
