OK, I know the biotin works and has a lot of great clinical research to back up its claims.

If you wish to see personally how it helps you, stick with just the biotin & not the other two for this month.

Next month, add L-carnitine along with biotin & your other supplements, and give it a try for a full month maybe even two. If it isn't doing anything for you, discontinue use.

    When you've made a decision about L-carnitine, give Co Q-10 a try.

You should also keep a journal on how you feel while on supplements. Note time you took them, any side-effects, how you felt throughout the day, etc.

Is it just taking suppliments in general that are helping or one inparticular? I have taken evening primrose oil inthe past, but didn't notice much of a change. i'm pms'ing right now actually, and way too far gone into my crankiness for this month , but would love suggestions for future. I was only taking 1 EP pill a day, i'm wondering if it wasn't enough..

I read an article in a woman's magazine a few months ago. It gave a list of supplements that were helpful for PMS. Interestingly enough, Evening primrose oil was not on the list. But, I swear by that! It listed calcium, magnesium, vitamin E, and some other things. My memory isn't so good -- is there a supplement for that? lol I have been taking them in addition to my usual supplements, and I'm telling you, it has made such a difference. If I remember, I'll get the article from home and post what it recommended.

As far as the evening primrose, I've found it REALLY helps with PMS--only if I start taking it about 3 days BEFORE my period arrives, and continue taking it until it's over, for about a week total. Since I've been taking it, I don't notice ANY mood swings. In fact, I was so cheerful and even-tempered, I didn't even realize the exact day of my TOM last month until my period STARTED! It also seems I have NOT been as bloated, or had as many cravings with this stuff. I take it once or twice a day (twice if I remember the second dose).

That's interesting joy, I know my magnesium is only at about half the RDA So i may startin supplimenting that. I already get my Vit E and calcium.

Juli, I thought you had to take EP oil all month for it to work for PMS, i still have a bottle here I may give it another shot, as a matter of fact I may start today before my mood swings lead to murder

I'm normally really good at taking my suppliments, yesterday I brought them up to my office to take them, my water was up there. i went in my office this morning only to find my vit's from yesterda still sitting on my desk. oops

I take the EP all month long. It took a couple of months of taking it before it "kicked" in.

Wow, I remembered to bring this article into work. Here is what it suggests, here is what I've been taking. It has made such a big difference with my PMS. Especially with my tender area at that time of the month (you know what I mean).

Calcium: 1,200 mg daily can fight bad moods and decrease bloating. (unfortunately, I don't think it has decreased the bloating -- for me anyway)

Vitamin B6: Boosts mood and reduce breast tenderness with 50 to 100 mg. (this is my FAVORITE vitamin of all time. It really does boost your mood)

Magnesium: Combat migraines and soothe your nerves with 300 to 1000 mg

Omega-3-Fatty Acids: Create more feel-good seotonin with 1,000 to 5,000 mg

Vitamin E: 400 IU may ease cramps and tender breasts.

FG's note: I have been taking all of these supplements for 2 months. My PMS has significantly gotten better, mood wise and tenderness wise. I don't know if I should attribute it to one particular supplement or if it is a combination of all of them. I still get bloated and I still get cramps, but not nearly as bad as before. TMI ????

Oops, well I think it was Cher or somebody who said to take it before and through TOM...if it makes me feel that good just taking it for a week, I wonder how I'd feel if I took it everyday!? What's interesting is that I take some of the other supps you mentioned daily (vitamin E, B complex, flax oil) and so maybe that's helping out, too. All I know is that I feel better all-around since I started taking supplements regularly.

Oh and I took my vits yesterday and today!
