  • Older but thanks to Atkins, Better!!

Well, I just had my birthday yesterday and I'm now 51. 50 didn't seem so bad, but 51 has hit me like a ton of rocks.

Wow, I'm over the 1/2 way mark and although I feel sooo much better than I have in several years, It is scary. I think a lot of it has to do with my medical problems (knees). But, I'm determined to keep a positive attitude and not let it get me down.

I'm going to foucs this year on getting my knees fixed up and getting to goal. Its been two years and I've had a few set-backs (ruptured disks, hysterectomy, knees) but I think sometimes we have to have the 'rough spots' to help us build more determination and make us change our plans to suit our changing lifes. Thats just my theory.

I told my doctor I was disappointed in myself cause I haven't really lost weight since last August and he said he's impressed because I've maintained and not let it deter me. He said with the meds and the inactivity, he thinks I've done good and he has no doubt that I'll jump back in and make it. Wow, if he believes in me like I believe in me, then I know I will make it happen.

Anyways, just wanted to say I may be getting older, but thanks to Atkins I am feeling better mentally and physically.

I think the main positive is, as your doc said, that you are maintaining the loss. The health problems ahve stalled you for now, but once you get your knees fixed up and can walk and so on again, you'll lose the rest.

I am 'on hold' at the moment, until I get my replacement car and can get back to the gym, but it is actuallu showing me I cna maintain what I've lost so that's OK.

Girlie, you are TOTAL INSPIRATION, 51 or not!! What you have accomplished is simply mind-boggling. Look at your pix!! They are astounding!

Odille is so right; maintaining is so where its at!! Lets face it; alot of people LOSE the weight, but the REAL STRUGGLE is in keeping it off for good!!

Age means nothing! Its ALL ABOUT feeling great! Your doctor is so right! He believes in you, we believe in you, and we are all in awe of what you have accomplished!
